This is kinda what DEI is all about. So many people assume that the person hired for a job isn’t qualified unless they’re a white male. Why is that?

Problem is that it doesn't seem like the number of these morons is all that small. You can “DEI train” all day long but there will remain a small vestige of society who cling to hating others because they are just sad angry persons with issues.
Why do you feel that way?In my opinion, lecturing and forcing people to watch videos or take classes or read literature about accepting other people for their differences actually makes people NOT want to accept other people for their differences.
Well, anecdotally speaking, I had an accountant friend who worked for Mobil (before the Exxon merger) whose sole reason for being on staff was to clean up the messes made by DEI (then “affirmative action”) hires in their various accounting departments. I’m sure Mobil was not alone in this regard.Explain
Yeah, this sounds made up.Well, anecdotally speaking, I had an accountant friend who worked for Mobil (before the Exxon merger) whose sole reason for being on staff was to clean up the messes made by DEI (then “affirmative action”) hires in their various accounting departments. I’m sure Mobil was not alone in this regard.
True, but through DEI training maybe they learn that certain behaviors will not be tolerated in their workplace. DEI training will probably not change many hearts or minds, however it might make individuals aware that certain behaviors or comments are offensive and engaging in them may result in being terminated from their job.You can “DEI train” all day long but there will remain a small vestige of society who cling to hating others because they are just sad angry persons with issues.
Cool anecdote that has zero to do with the question I asked below. Feel free to take another crack at it.Well, anecdotally speaking, I had an accountant friend who worked for Mobil (before the Exxon merger) whose sole reason for being on staff was to clean up the messes made by DEI (then “affirmative action”) hires in their various accounting departments. I don't care if you accept me. I simply don't want to be denied employment or have to listen to f@ggot comments while I'm at work. You can hate my ass as much as you want on your own time.In my opinion, lecturing and forcing people to watch videos or take classes or read literature about accepting other people for their differences actually makes people NOT want to accept other people for their differences.
I’m sorry you can’t understand plain English, “Doc”.Cool anecdote that has zero to do with the question I asked below. Feel free to take another crack at it.
"So many people assume that the person hired for a job isn’t qualified unless they’re a white male. Why is that?"
“Sticking his dick in another guys asshole” and sticking a drill bit into the earth to pull out its “essence”…There is kind of a symmetry to this symbolism right? I think there is a place for DEI in tge business of Big Oil , based on that.Disagree that DEI is a good thing. On another board I frequent, a guy in HR for Phillips 66 was bragging about how they’d met their LGBTQMAP hiring goals. Asked him what one guy sticking his dick in another guy’s butthole had to do with retrieving fossil fuels from the earth, refining them into usable products, and bringing them to the market. Never got a straight answer (pun intended).

I’m sorry you struggle to answer basic questions.I’m sorry you can’t understand plain English, “Doc”.
What was it called and how was it different from DEI training?Such training has long been in place.
I answered your question.I’m sorry you struggle to answer basic questions.

What makes her a DEI hire?
No, you need to have proof you took the training class so that when the company is sued they can say look, we did our part, that guys just an asshole, go after him.Weird take. I don't need "training" to be kind to my fellow man, treating them with dignity and respect. As with all my annual training, I press play on the video, hit mute, then take the test at the end which doesn't take a rocket surgeon to pass.
Where? Your fake anecdote had nothing to do with the question asked.I answered your question.
Assuming equal qualifications, agree 100%. I assume that is what you are getting at.Until we have studies, where applications are sent in with "black" names and traditional white names, and the call backs are 50-50 by companies, then maybe DEI needs to continue to be a bit of a thing. For now it's at least 80-20 that the white name gets contacted back.
Guessing that her resume of a year and a half at each job? Maybe she is just consistently a fast learner. What makes her a DEI hire?
I guess the little DEI hire was correct, demand definitely outweighed supply!! 🤡 🤣 >What makes her a DEI hire?
Pretty weak resume to come in and be awarded with a salary double of her predecessor, don't you think? >What makes her a DEI hire?
That was the study. It was actually better than 80-20 which was my mistake. Equal resumes with different names were sent to companies and traditional white names got more call backs than someone named Lamar or LaShonda. Proving that there is still inherent racism in the way companies hire.Assuming equal qualifications, agree 100%. I assume that is what you are getting at.
Anytime a non-white, non-male or non-straight person gets a job I thinkWhat makes her a DEI hire?
Seems to be the case.Anytime a non-white, non-male or non-straight person gets a job I think
Sounds like a "who ya know" hire. Tale as old as time.Pretty weak resume to come in and be awarded with a salary double of her predecessor, don't you think? >

No, we can't all agree DEI is good. The U.S. is a meritocracy and always should be. Diversity is good if it occurs organically, it it occurs any other way it is racism. Can we all agree that DEI is a good thing but Corporations and Governments should not make people take quarterly tests, push it endlessly on their websites homepage to make them seem not racist or something, act like they should get an award because they hired “X” number of these many people, etc…
Wouldn’t a simple blurb in the “who we are” section of the website be enough?
Are you homophobic Huey? You probably don't fix this level of homophobia. But there are plenty of people with homophobic beliefs that might not be aware that what they're saying is homophobic.
So they sit through the training. Maybe they even think it's a waste of time. But at the end of the day maybe they decide not to make an off color remark the next day.
The result is the same. Less bullshit in the workplace.
As a side note, no government tax payer funded employee should be making $750,000.00 per year.
