The office of the CEO may not know how to do an ATC’s job but the FAA and airline operations are heavily intertwined. Many chiefs are hired from the airline to work at the FAA and vise versa. One big happy family that has a vested interest in each other’s success.
I think back to 15-20 years ago when the airlines and DOT/FAA worked together to approve RNAV for many of the nation’s business airports which was a win-win for the agency and all the carriers as a prime example. I think it was Delta’s Grinstein that championed his org for the cause the most.
Because congress didn't appropriate money to hire more staff.

I will say, there isn't a CEO in the world who wouldn't be ecstatic that the agency that regulates their company is experiencing job cuts.

If the FAA cuts do actually lead to an increase in crashes, that won’t be good for Delta.
Just because they get rid of the regulators does not eliminate underlying statutory regulations.
And the liabilities surrounding those violations do not "just go away"; they will wait for the next disaster and the pendulum to swing the other way.
The rule-makers are the agency. The law just says the agency shall promulgate rules.
Not for everything.
There are specific statutory elements that must be upheld.
Unless you're calling for companies to be able to pollute w/o any limits, so long as they give Trump a few mil.

Who should be making comments then? If the Chief Pilot’s office has an opinion on the matter then a good CEO would want to know what that opinion is, thus making the CEO qualified to make said statement. Sounds like the C-Suite is in-sync with its people. That’s a good thing Joe.
