Des Moines getting a Five Guys

Not sure, Andy Fales from WHO said it would be here by the end of 2016. Personally, I think they have ok food. However lots of posters here really like them so I figured I'd pass the word along.

Thanks for the heads up swag. I'll let the initial rush die down a bit, and then hit that place 2-3 times a week for eternity.

Geez, this is like Rick Scott making a big deal about Wawa coming to Florida.

Really, Rick? Another convenience store chain? Gosh, we don't have any of those....

Five Guys were good several years ago. But their prices went up and quality went down with their growth spurt.

Lived in KC for a couple years and had access to Five Guys. It's decent, but nothing to get excited over. Personally I thought it was way over priced.

I enjoy B-Bops.

Taking everything into account, B-Bops is better via price point. Five Guys does give you a lot more options as far as toppings go though.

I live across the street from Zombie Burger though, so If I want a solid burger I don't really stray too far anymore.

I cannot remember the last time I had a fast food burger. Maybe a Culver's burger a year or so ago. If Im having a burger I'll go downtown to Shorts.

You live in a good food neighborhood.

WaWa > all.other convenience stores...
and yes, Iowans, that includes Caseys

Not really impressed with Wawa.

Lots of convenience stores in Florida have co-branded food operations within their stores. A Wawa hogie is six inches at best and costs around $5.

You can get a five dollar footlong at a Subway located in a Kangaroo convenience store.

Five guys is good, but they are expensive. I spent$20 on a burger, fries, and a shake.

It's fantastic here for food options. Probably going to walk down to Tacopocalypse tomorrow morning for some biscuits and gravy ;D
With all due respect, F you. They said months ago they were opening one in Coralville, but nothing has opened yet. I was supposed to drive over to Des Moines to hit Tacopocalypse and wander around Bass Pro Shop today, but one of the kids is sick.

I'm sure it will happen. Dude really seems to jump the gun a bit when it comes to timelines. Krunkwich took way longer to open up here than what was advertised, and that was just down the street. I get it though, I was in the kitchen world for a number of years and a lot of crap just pops up that you don't anticipate.

FYI, head over to Krunkwich on your next Des Moines stop and get some Kimchi Tots - They sound weird, but are so freaking good.

Didn't know Tacopocalypse did breakfast. Might have to try it but I've done lunch there twice with 2 different groups totaling around 15-18 people and not a single person thought it lived up to the hype.

Zombie burger? More of my friends/family like it than Tacopocalypse but still more than half (including myself) view it too as someplace that is overhyped/overrated. ZB seems to have an certain demographic following. Most people still in their 20s like it but most over 30 recognize it for what it really is.

Granted...these 2 places are convenient if you live in the East Village.

I'd put Quick Trip as an equal.

Gotta agree with H Prime. QT is IMO the best convenience store. Love Casey's pizza and I own Casey's stock but overall neither Casey's nor K&G can come close to QT.
