Desantis Responds

True. Nurses take just as much shit on a daily basis as, dare I say, teachers. I will never ever be nothing but polite to a nurse. Every single time, before they put me under for colonoscopies or anything I say, “Thank you for taking care of me.” They are always very kind back.
Including @RNHawk ?

Because he’s pro authoritarian. He has Nazis who support him. He won’t denounce NAZIS!! Yet you love him. Hitler would have loved you.
This is why the left pisses me off. Trump supporters are gullible nitwits to continually follow that narcissistic mental child.

But you guys rolling this kind of shit out daily is just maddening. No other way to describe it.

@RNHawk made the threat of physical violence, not @torbee before you jumped into the fray with your own tough guy talk. Torbee only asserted he would have no fear giving him his opinions in person. I have no doubt he would either. Journalists are kinda opinionated bastards ya know.
I don't feel like I threatened violence, maybe I did, like I said earlier nothing has to lead to violence especially if you have two people talking face to face.

People coming into the USA seeking asylum are NOT breaking any laws as long as they followed the rules....as these Venezuelans did follow the laws. They entered seeking asylum, they contacted US officials upon entering the country and advised them they were seeking asylum...and they now have Court hearing gates next month to start their process.
By moving these folks to Massachusetts....there is no way these folks can attend their hearings.....then they will become "illegal".....Florida and Texas citizens probably need to move somewhere else if they don't like the fact that their states are primary entry points for immigrants and asylum seekers. Those seeking political asylum are NOT required to produce "papers" upon entry to the US......they are given court dates upon entry to start the process.
This is a constructive post. I appreciate you being measured in your response. If you know of any solutions that have been proposed to support the border towns that are on the "front lines" with tens of thousands asylum seekers and others, then please provide insight.

Martha's Vineyard - "They can't stay here." citing not having the infrastructure of social services. How difficult would it be to house these asylum seekers and bring someone into the community to assist with the process?

Chicago - "A man without morals." and then moves them out of her city to the suburbs.

Most of us agree the tactics of using humans as pawns is despicable. It is every bit as despicable to ignore the crisis, which is seemingly the case for the Pres and VP.. How should Abbot and DeSantis handle this crisis while the Pres keeps his head in the sand? Suggesting Floridians and Texans move because we will not protect our borders sounds, on its surface, like we are turning our backs on them.

DHS falsifies addresses on the migrants' paperwork.
They chose random homeless shelters all over the country as the migrants' addresses.
They then forced the migrants to check-in with the ICE office closest to these fake addresses or be permanently removed from the country.
Many of them have to check-in by this Monday...

"We'll help you get to Massachusetts so you can get nice and settled in, but if you don't get your ass here to San Antonio, or Tacoma, WA, or wherever the hell we said you live before Monday, we're kicking you out. Oh, and we'll lie to you about how to get your address registered, so even if you follow our instructions, you're doubly ****ed because you didn't register with the right agency, so we'll remove you in abstentia."

The cruelty is the point.

Congress is the entity that passes new immigration laws.

The President is who executes those laws. Currently, asylum laws allow people seeking asylum to remain in the US. That has not changed. Trump forcing them to "remain in Mexico" was a violation of existing US law.

I wonder if Biden could sign an executive order temporarily ending all new asylum seekers or vastly limiting the number. Most of the major cities are nearing the breaking point now.

Again: CONGRESS can allocate budgets to handle facilities and workload.

Except we have a dyslexic GOP that wants the cheap labor to depress wages, but cannot rectify that with its consistent anti-immigrant rhetoric.

We must do something to slow it. I read 4 million have come in during Biden’s first 19 months. Maybe we could triple border control and give them much more leeway. At least Biden is completing portions of the wall, that could help.

Then you should support policies that will slow it.

One of the current drivers of migrations is "climate change", that is driving people out of where they live today - that is projected to get MUCH WORSE over the coming decades.

Another is "drug trafficking" and drug gangs in the places these people are trying to escape.

Yet another is supporting autocrats in the countries they are coming from, because those autocracies provide resources to American capitalists/companies.

They are complex problems that require in-depth analysis and solutions; I do not see anything remotely coming from the GOP right now addressing any of that. There are SOME policies from Democrats, but not a ton, really.

You cannot "solve" a problem, if you're not identifying and addressing the root causes.

Yes agree, but I don’t see either side doing anything to address those. For now using any means necessary including making it horrible for them in huge dentition centers here built on the borders or tent cities may be our only option to keep them out.

I see one side working on climate legislation; the other not so much.
And while that may not be THE major driver now, it is going to be within the coming decades.

Would seem to be a question to ask your candidates if they have ideas on addressing the SOURCES of the problem, rather than "build a wall", which doesn't really address the problem at all.

I would buffer our border resources with electronic tech to monitor, vs "a wall", but I don't see anyone offering that option.

My candidates are Democrats, but agree we should ask all candidates. I believe the last time I voted for a Republican candidate in any election was 2016. I really don’t see what the US can do to force other countries to adopt climate change measure or fix their crime and drug issues. We have plenty of our own.

The panic from the left on the story is hilarious and illuminating. How dare you send legal asylum seekers to Martha's Vinyard. Maybe we can erect a chain link fence on the island for aoc to cry in front of for the Twitter likes.

I am a little amused by something in this thread. Abbot sent two buses to the VPs house and the liberals are quite.

DeSantis clearly has their attention

Liberal Jesus just yells at them saying that their mom should have aborted them

that really isn't an answer

Excellent.

He would make a great president.

A little education beyond the propaganda for our retarded Republican friends…

At his job is what I'm talking about. THE JOB. Not this place. If I'm reading you correctly, I don't attack other's jobs on here because I DON'T KNOW THE JOB. Unlike others who think they know better than educators how to work with kids. I disagree with him politically but I respect the hell out of his profession.

And this is what pisses me off. How is that wrong??? Every single thing I said there is a fact. Get your head out of the damn sand. You seriously don't see the Nazi flags outside Desantis speeches? At Trump rallies. I never thought that you would fit in 1930s Germany but maybe you would have been one of those bystanding Germans who didn't fight against the fascism.

They shouldn’t be. By that time they should have their hearings completed and given the opportunity to settle where they choose.
Hearings in a month or two? Are you new to this system? BTW, if they’re granted asylum, they absolutely should be allowed to live wherever they want.

But you guys rolling this kind of shit out daily is just maddening.

You'd rather that people NOT correct the misinformation campaigns?

Perhaps your anger should be spent towards the folks generating them. Email your current representative who are in the GOP and tell them they've lost your support by NOT standing up to correct it.

What pisses me off Are is that 15-20 years ago Congress had reached a compromise on a new immigration law when Junior was POTUS. I would assume, since Junior was a Texan and quite familiar with the issues of the border, he brokered a decent deal. It was bipartisan. The bill was scuttled by a very small number of reactionary, zero-tolerance on immigration Congressmen. This cabal of politicians have effectively tied up Cingress on immigration ever since. Meanwhile, the border issues continue with NO relief in sight.
The problem, as I see it is...America stands for something and the American Dream is not limited to “white America”....I have no answer to this problem Are but we have a system of government in place that is being “short sheeted” by a minority of those charged with running it.

Another solid post. I need to keep reading more of your posts with an open mind.
