DeSantis

You have nothing but "if you don't support my guy, you can leave." You must support DeSantis regardless of the fact he keeps pushing and signing bills that are found to be unconstitutional. Regardless of the fact he has costs Floridians millions of dollars in legal fees fighting these losing battles. Regardless of the fact he regularly uses his powers and the state to go after anyone who speaks out against him. Regardless of the fact he went back on his word and signed the 6-week abortion ban. Regardless of the fact that he has thrown his full support behind Trump to the degree he vowed to use his powers as governor to circumvent the law to remove the restrictions placed on anyone else who has 34 felony convictions. Yeah, that's your man.

But Biden is old. So, are you looking at Europe? Central America.

Don't forget, hasn't done shit with respect to mortgage insurance

Where’s the red meat for the cult dummies in fixing the car and homeowners insurance markets? He’s doing the important stuff like traveling out of state for 10 straight months, living large on his failed campaign donors millions and losing a lot of cases in federal court.

Florida is still 50th in teacher pay. So maybe he should have done more. If you don't know Florida is having a hard time recruiting and keeping teachers.
I’m well aware of our teacher shortage which puts us in good company with the nationwide shortage. It’s a long history going back generations. When Democrats ran the state and there was a “girls school” producing teachers.
My point is I’m glad the Legislature and the Governor are trying to address the issue.
Interesting that we rank 16th in starting pay but last in average for experienced teachers. Are experienced teachers leaving before they max out? Why would that be?
Now tell me the other reasons there’s a shortage. 😏

Does the same apply to you with the USA and the president? Let me know when you're moving to another country.

Wow I thought this discussion centered on our Governor and our state. Coulda fooled me.

I hate the increases just like everyone.
I’d love a rollback but if my car is totaled tomorrow it’s going to cost my carrier at least $40K to replace it. Ten years ago it wouldn’t have.
If my house is wiped out tomorrow it’s going to cost a 💩ton to rebuild it - a lot more than a decade ago.
It sucks. What are your ideas? What is your representative to the State House/Senate proposing?

The Republicans have controlled the Governor's office and Legislature for the past 26 years. Beginning with Jeb Bush, they have been trying to diminish public education every way possible. Multi millions of dollars have been wasted on numerous charter schools that have closed up after failing to adequately educate their students. I agree, it is good that the Governor and Legislature are finally trying to address the education issue after so many years of neglect and inadequate funding.

No matter how hard they try, logic and reason never make it to your thought process. My god

And in other news…Disney will proceed with expanding growth and offerings to visitors in the state, bringing a close to a disagreement sparked by a small group of its California performance artists over a Florida law prohibiting gender identity instruction in primary grades.
A 50+ year sweetheart deal an anxious-for-growth State agreed to that gave Disney an unprecedented carve out of autonomy has been modified and other tourist destinations that received no such treatment such as Universal Studios and Sea World are no doubt pleased that Disney no longer lives under their own separate set of rules.

Having grown up in Florida and also having lived in North Texas for almost twenty years the level of sarcasm this gentleman employs is nothing short of a fun display of “I’m from Texas and I probably went to UT so naturally you should be as impressed with me as I am with myself”.
Newsflash: Who here has read a “vanity” work from a politician readying for a run at office that wasn’t anything but a fluff piece?
Y’all have a real good day!

I go back a lot further than 26 years.

after gay marriage nothing about any of this "culture war" stuff has been about equal rights. It's been and continues to be about a separate set of rules and special treatment. In regards to RDS and Disney, I'm glad to see everything work out. All those jobs and money disney brings into the state is good thing.

Ron's problem appears to be that he's a great manager but a just terrible salesman,.. We don't need anymore salesmen,.. Given the chance, I'd vote for him.

Funny how you believe that.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a $116.5 billion state budget for the coming year after cutting nearly $1 billion from the Legislature’s spending plan, reflecting a reduction in overall state spending from last year. Included in the budget are $1.25 billion in funding to provide salary increases for teachers and other instructional personnel, a 3% raise for state workers, $1.5 billion in additional funds for Everglades restoration and cleanup projects and $1.5 billion in tax relief, including $500 million in toll road refunds and several sales tax holidays. This budget also will result in $17 billion remaining for budgetary reserves.

This is not the first time this has happened.
Where should all that water go?
By the way every part of the State had something vetoed.

He literally admitted they went after Disney because Disney spoke out against the bill. Do you dispute that?
He was acting in the best interest of EQUITY. Disney had a sweet heart deal for 70 years and it was unfair to the other theme parks in the state. This was a DE&I move. You should be on board with it.

This is what DE&I looks like in practice.

That makes no sense. It also does not contest my point. DeSantis threw a fit because Disney dared to oppose him. Those are the facts.

He didn't throw a fit. He leveled the playing field and created an equitable opportunity for a minority park while expanding tax revenue for the state.

It's the most Democrat thing he ever did.

I'll ask a couple of questions. Would he have done anything to Disney if they had not spoken out against the bill? Would he have had legislation introduced independently?

I will give credit when due. You are so good of a troll that I often can't tell when you're being serious.

You're suggesting motive is more important than action. Do you guys believe in your nonsense or not? You should be celebrating RDS for trying to be equitable and raising taxes on the rich and making Disney pay their fair share.

$60 Billion investment.

Stay away from negative people. You will enjoy your life so much more. In other words, stay away from liberals.

Did you even read the article you linked? Disney isn't investing 60 billion in Florida. That is the amount of all planned investments in parks, cruises and other attractions over the next 10 years. The plans mention some expansion in Florida but there are no specifics and no start date. More than likely they will wait to see if someone sane is elected governor in three years and then assess if Florida is a good investment.

The high heeled tyrant blew up an actual in progress billion dollar project in exchange for the hope of a future park expansion all because some gay Disney employees in California criticized his fragile azz.

"But park visitors can one day expect to see much more beyond that wilderness at the iconic park in Central Florida – something more ambitious than just a ride overhaul or a retheming.

“It’s probably the largest expansion ever at Magic Kingdom,” Michael Hundgen, Walt Disney World site portfolio executive, said Tuesday during a rare media event previewing new Disney attraction designs and technology at its Walt Disney Imagineering facility in California.

He said the expansion will be about the size of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, which occupies about 14 acres. A Disney team is currently on research trips and going through concept design for this expansion area.

Hundgen did not say what themes or stories would exist there – or when this project would be completed.

Disney’s 10-year investment plan

The Magic Kingdom expansion is one part of a $60 billion investment Disney has said it’s planning for its parks, cruises and experiences over the next decade."

Disney had a special taxing district. Over 1900 special taxing districts exist in Florida. No one had any problem with Disney's Reedy Creek taxing district until Disney employees in California exercised their first amendment rights and called out our homophobic, and likely closeted, governor.

And how many other bills have been filed or pushed by DeSantis to address other special districts? My guess is none.

These posters are fooling themselves. Even DeSantis and his GOP allies called it like it was and admitted it was because they didn’t like Disney weighing in on the bill.

Into storm drains.

Infrastructure that the state should invest in for the commonplace flooding that occurs every year, somewhere in FL...

Yup, and RDS didn't violate their first amendment rights. The California queens are free to say whatever they want. But that doesn't mean there wouldn't be consequences. No one went to jail or was put to death. But try going up to your boss and telling him F You and see if there are consequences or if he/she thinks you're just exercising your 1A rights.

Could be 0 could be 100. Why should the wealthiest company maybe in America possibly among the top in the world enjoy special tax privileges? You don't seem nearly as upset about AOC killing an Amazon plant in her district.
