My aunts sister in laws grandma lives next door to Devries uncles cousin and his brother says he is coming to Iowa.

Devries ought to donate some NIL to Iowa if he isn't serious about coming back. He will be getting raise and extension at WVU thanks to Iowa.
You think he wasn't gonna get offers regardless who it comes from?

On Iowa Everywhere today they talked about how the Creighton job could come open, and that would be an option for DeVries.

They were gonna need to fight to keep him after year 1 no matter what.

You think 19-13 this year at a bigger school enticed other big schools to offer?

I believe two things:
1. An offer was made to a past BB coach as a courtesy and the offer was turned down.
2. I am hearing that Devries is the guy....Iowa is extremely high on his "places to be".

Take it for what it is worth which at this point is nothing more that a post on a message board.

It was kind of a quip with some basis in fact.

I don't think Iowa should go after DeVries if they have to pay some buyout fee to WVU + pay him more money. Pot is only so big. More money to NIL, less to coaches.

McCollum is the right move imho---and Iowa needs to sign him before Minny, Indiana offer

Creighton was only paying McDermott 2.93 million---unless they have a billionaire, they don't have the TV money Iowa gets. They
do have better attendance. I wouldn't bet they are in the Devries race.

The article said he had two schools pursuing Devries. and Iowa is one of them. So that is 50% ofThe interest as of right now. Hence my quip is somewhat based on fact if he's not really serious about his interest in Iowa job. These coaches agent greed is obscene.

Depends on athletic budget of the schools competing vs Iowa for Devries services, Iowa likely is one of the richer schools.
Iowa was a Top 20 revenue athletic department, so there are only 19 above us with more resoures from revenue and most of them aren't searching for coaches. There are the odd schools with Billionaire benefactors and most of them already have higher paid coaches and don't need Devries.

Iowa's main competition for finding a coach is Minnesota and Indiana. The Big10 conference has high coaching salaries relative to lesser revenue conferences and with revenue NIL sharing kicking in, B1G is a destination conference. Unfortunately, Iowa within B1G is a bottom feeder in NIL.

I wonder if hiring one of the "hot" coaches is a good idea. Find a coach that can recruit and coach offense, defense and rebounding. Drake seems able to do it.

Just tell Kirk to suck it, the buy out for the new BB coach is coming out first before the splitting starts to the other sports.

If Iowa offered, he’d come. Not only the obvious ties to Iowa City, the B1G will be much easier to win in than the Big 8.

If Iowa is DeVries dream job and where he wants to be for the rest of his career, could he just simply resign from West Virginia and would that nullify any large buyouts Iowa would owe to them? In this way, we could save a boat load of money and take some of those savings and get him a higher salary?

Just a thought..

No, otherwise thats what every coach would do. It comes with “you can’t coach anywhere else” clauses essentially. Basically a non-compete clause. Although I’m surprised there hasn’t been more challenges to contract buyouts.
