It’s a lot of work to go to just to kill yourself. Why go to all the trouble of dodging the authorities and keeping Gabbys parents in the dark if you’re just going to commit suicide?

He got home. Realized his life was F'd and went out to that area and did it.

Its hard for me to believe this guy is an escape artist.

Interview with former fugitive who evaded federal marshals for two years

Florida law is irrelevant. The only charges pending against BL are federal. It is a violation of federal law to harbor a fugitive, obstruct an investigation, and to lie to federal law enforcement.

Not much for them to worry about there. The federal penalty is "up to one year in prison." Seeing how they likely helped him escape well before the warrant was issued, they are at little risk of prosecution.

"In the case of a fugitive from justice, under federal statute 18 U.S.C. § 1071 (concealing an individual from arrest), four elements must be proved to prosecute an individual for the alleged commission of this crime of concealment.

The requirements to successfully initiate a prosecution against a defendant for this crime are as follows:

It must be proved that a federal warrant had been issued for the concealed individual's arrest. Secondly, that the person who allegedly gave the wanted person safe haven knew that such warrant was issued. It also must be proved that they actually concealed the fugitive from law enforcement and did so with the intent of preventing the fugitive's discovery and/or arrest.

I do think all this K9, armed police, etc. etc. is to create alarm if his parents do know his whereabouts and it might force him to make a mistake.
The weather here is moderating, the swamps are getting a little drier...snakes are moving around and critters are getting active.
It could also be a deliberate smokescreen because they know he's elsewhere. If he thinks the cops believe he's in that swamp he lets his guard down in his actual location. Boom.

I mentioned obstruction (10 years) and false statement to FBI (5 years) too. There's plenty of exposure if the feds choose to go that direction.

They have a LE tent sent up at the reserve, similar to when they find a body. Parents contacted police about a trail he used in the past, where they possibly found his clothes. ME called out. Live footage

Somethings not adding up. The parents just contacted LE about a trail that he used, then they magically find items of his clothes, just after the park re-opened to the public?

Would be a fantastic "twist" by the writers here, if the parents dumped some vagrant's body with his stuff there a month ago to try and fake his death....

Quite the opener to Season II, or cliffhanger for Season I.

I too wonder about him faking his own death. He had plenty of time to come up with an elaborate escape.

With dental records, DNA, tattoos, etc., should be able to eliminate any dead body as Brian Laundrie if not him, very quickly. Unless cause of death was spontaneous human combustion.

Something is way off. Not sure what but this is ridiculous. So five weeks FBI and locals find nothing, parents magically find stuff in an hour??? It is either planted / diversion or they were somehow in contact with him and he told him where he was going and what he was going to do.

"Laundrie's parents directed FBI agents and North Port police to the location where "some articles belonging to Brian were found," according to a statement by Laundrie attorney Steven Bertolino."

“Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian," Bertolino said."

"The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”

Is there a body though… “we found bloody ripped clothes and other articles but no body… scavengers must of consumed him.” …. Meanwhile he’s working as a gaucho in Patagonia.
