Did I miss the JBo KO thread?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess most people who know him, but are not bonded through the aspect of teammate, think this guy is a giant douche.
You can say whatever you want to say about JBo ,but when he intentionally missed the free throw to keep Chris Street in the record books, he will forever go down as one of the Hawkeyes I will always be proud of. Thank you Jordan!!

Your comments in a thread on an Iowa basketball message board about an Iowa basketball player that got into a physical altercation weren't about said incident? You just accidentally wandered in here and coincidentally start posting about street fights?

None of us were there but there is video of what transpired. Let me recap: JBo is holding a phone and presumably arguing with a guy. After a couple seconds, another guy comes up behind/beside him, taps him on the shoulder, and cold cocks him. He then he proceeds to punch him after he's fallen to the ground.
To even further clarify for you, I was intentionally reading this thread. Your assertation that a street fight follow marquis of queensbury rules is what got me to respond. Fact.

I've read the thread.
It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another thing to express that opinion. It's wholly another thing to be arrogant, smug and act like you are smarter and better than other people. If there is anyone on here whose posts could be interpreted as "approving" of Bohannon getting punched or that he "had it coming" is not because they "don't like" his opinions. It is because they find him to be insufferable in the way he carries himself and recognize that if you are out in public acting like a 12 year douchebag when you are, in reality, a 6th year Senior, someone might take a shot at you. That applies to Jordan Bohannon or any other 24 year old. Douche bag conduct has a tendency to attract other douche bag conduct.
There are also a number of people posting on this thread who are leaping to the conclusion that JBo's initial conduct (chucking ice cubes at people) excuses getting punched. There's a difference between excusing conduct and pointing out why conduct took place. I'm willing to bet very good money that if JBo wasn't chucking ice and people and engaged in conduct on the pedestrian mall that was sufficient to have someone record it and comment about how JBo "knew that he was going to get" punched, this never would have happened. Something was brewing and it ended in a very bad way. And pointing out that JBo's conduct leading up to getting punched qualifies as being an entitled douche bag doesn't excuse the bad ending. It merely offers context.
Laying blame at "Cancel Culture" misses the mark. Widely.
Good luck trying to explain the difference between an excuse and an explanation. It never works on the Interweb and not very often in the real world.

Frankly. I would have been more impressed if he missed the one prior. So Street would have held record alone.

And he's never going to live this down. Every time Iowa plays a road game next season, every student section is going to roast him.
No doubt, especially when we visit Hilton. As a side note to the defenders, if an opponent, say one from ISWho signed his shoes and left them at half court when he walked off for what was supposed to be the last time, (well not I guess), what would we think of that player? Douche bag, or honored that he did that on the Hawkeye at Carver?

So, just out of curiosity, if Jordan were to shoot someone or rape a chick, does your opinion change?

What about drinking ice water makes folks think he was drunk or has a drinking problem?
Because there was ice in his cup, which he supposedly dumped on people below him, doesn't mean he was drinking ice Water. pretty sure at his age in a bar he wasn't drinking water, which is fine as he's one of the few kids on the team old enough to drink legally. I certainly don't condone him being assaulted, BUT if he did in fact douse others with ice then its another example that he has some maturing to do.

I certainly have my flaws but you wont find any photos or videos of me getting laid the **** out for being a punk people in the bar wanted to see get knocked out. I've won and I've lost, not once did "call mommy and daddy and get lawyers involved to protect my tiny little ego" come through my mind. I'll actually gain some respect for him if he takes this on the chin and just learns a lesson. The first of which is fist>phones when the actual shit is hitting the fan. You are not a victim jordan you are an instigator who got laid out, learn.
So how have you confused Jbo with someone with a tiny ego???

Loudmouths, jackoffs, jerkoffs, dbags, and assholes who rile ship up intentionally deserve it.
I don't care if it's a Hawkeye, Cyclone, Piston, Oiler, or your mom.
This is the thing. Sucker punch, maybe? But IF you run around being a douche and talking it up, at some point, your going to have o back your shit up, OR your going to get pummeled by someone who's had enough, and thats certainly going to happen in a bar. Hopefully a lesson learned by Jordan......

yeah being sucker punched is getting pummeled....

Spare us the righteous indignation and preaching about the characteristics of a “true” Hawkeye fan.

Before this incident, I’ve thought that Jordan Bohannon’s biggest fan was ... Jordan Bohannon. Being a Hawkeye fan doesn’t mean that I must agree with his opinions or avoid commenting on his shortcomings as a player vis-a-vis the competition. Wearing an Iowa basketball jersey on the floor of CHA is not the equivalent of wearing a criticism-proof jacket.

If he was acting like a smug, entitled ass before he got punched, it’s fair to point out that he was acting like a smug, entitled ass.
Unless you were standing right there when the punch was thrown and know why the punch was thrown you have no right to speculate that Jordan was acting smug or an ass. So until you know the truth maybe you should just shut your mouth.

May want to re-read this thread. The smug approval of JB deserving this is dripping from the those who dont ‘like’ his opinions. Clearly stated over and over. Your cute deflection is typical.
This guy is a real ****wad.

You and your ****ing cancel culture. You can shove your ****ing cancel culture up your ass.

Just so we are all clear. ISU alum are not allowed downtown after sundown.
WTF is wrong with these kids, see a Cyclone, beat a Cyclone.

Absolutely. IF they do, don't you think he'll get the credit? At this point in his tenure, win or lose its Frans baby......
I was responding to Pepperman who wanted McC to take all the blame if the season went south.

Some seem to blame McC regardless of what happens, but they are silent when he has Iowa in the Top 10.

College boys fighting? Outside a bar? That's like the discovery of gambling in Casablanca.

Got a crazy idea Jordan might be quite a smartass since he's a constant Larry Bird like shit talker on the court. I was about the same size as Jordan in college. I can tell you smart ass guys our size will take a knock down punch in Iowa City from time to time.

It only hurts your pride, although the after party stitches really kind of suck.

I hope precious little "JBo" has learned a lesson as he seems like the type, based on his words/actions and tweets, who had that coming.
And, yes, you pop off like he seems to love doing you will end up getting leveled.

It has been reported that the guy who threw the punch is 29. Is he still a college boy? Also, is it a fight if only one person throws a punch? I believe Jordan is 23. Both of them should know better.

Jfc, we’re still yapping about this? I see it this way.

1. People very rarely get KO’d for no reason.
2. Jordan Bohannon has done a lot of things at Iowa rich in the douche. (Who the hell leaves signed shoes on the floor of an opponent besides a douchebag? )
3. Given points one and two, I conclude that where’s there’s smoke there’s probably fire. I think Bohannon probably got what’s been coming to him for a long time.

Agreed.
Hopefully he grows up before he starts his career in insurance sales.

Someone not only thinks that he can be the judge of what constitutes a "true" Hawkeye fan . . . he also thinks that he can be the judge setting rules in the court of public opinion.

Larry Bird talked a lot of shit because he could back it up.

All points that are likely true. And the virtue signaling Iowa fans, who are entitled to a different view, can deal with it. Or, continue to express their butthurt and look foolish. Whatever tickles their pickle.

Leaving the shoes at Hilton was priceless. It may have been a douchey thing to do but were we not all entertained by it? Maybe someone can help here, but was there one Hawk fan that had a problem with it? I guess we are all douchebags then, just lacking the talent to actually be able to leave the shoes ourselves.

It's funny to me how many of you seem caught up on the fact that a guy big enough/unwilling to put up with a douchnozzles bullshit was also themselves a D1 athlete. It wasn't going to be a 120 pound math clubber. Jordan learned a lesson that day, let's see if mommy and daddy bail him out.

No kidding. He also raised over $20k to the UI Children's Hospital because of it.

I guess people just want him to shut up and dribble next season

I was thinking it was Bird, but on further thought I believe it was Scottie Pippen who had one of the best trash talks of all time.

"Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen says he delivered one of the greatest lines of trash talk in sports history on the fly during Game 1 of the 1997 NBA Finals.

As Utah Jazz superstar Karl Malone prepared to shoot two free throws late in a tie game on Sunday, June 1, 1997, Pippen said to him, "The Mailman doesn't deliver on Sundays."

"It was off the top of my head, freestyle," Pippen told ESPN's David Fleming as part of a look back at the famous line.

Malone, a career 74.2 percent free-throw shooter, missed both attempts from the charity stripe with nine seconds remaining and the score tied at 82. It opened the door for Michael Jordan to hit a game-winning jumper at the buzzer to give the Bulls an 84-82 victory. Chicago went on to win the series in six games."

Precisely. Shut up and play basketball. Quit running your mouth on Twitter.
Technically, he didn't "leave the shoes at Hilton". He took them off after the game, strategically placed them on the floor, took several pictures(or had someone else take the pictures), picked the shoes up and brought them home and posted about it for the next 3 days. YES, he did raise money for the hospital with is great!! It's still a form of trash talking that really doesnt' serve much purpose and I wish athletes would do less of it.

I had not noticed that. Do you think JBo should have just made the free throw and taken the record for himself? Who would have been associated with the record if this had happened? At least now, JBo and Chris Street are mentioned together as having the record. People really look for things to criticize JBo about. Think on that one for a sec.

Could it be possible he knew that by missing the free throw on purpose it would draw more attention to himself than if he broke the record? Maybe he chose not to break it for selfish reasons?
