Bobby was a clutch player and a better athlete than people thought. He also was an excellent ball handler/passer. When he was a freshman there were a couple of occasions after Ronnie got hurt and Arnold was fighting off injuries that Bobby stepped in and played the point guard and did a very good job.
and he played 12 year(?) in the league.... he is/was a stud!

I don’t see Tadjo being a meaningful contributor this year but I think he’ll end up being a good player
Just would be nice to get more athleticism on the floor. Don’t have much faith in Delembee guarding anything other than Centers right now.. Seems a step slow or unsure of himself.

I don't see him contributing this year.

Watching the game, you could see something was wrong with Josh. I didn't see anything happen, and thought maybe he was sick. Add in that Payton and Pryce couldn't hit a shot and Freeman sat for much of the first half, and this was a very good win. Thelwell needs more minutes than Harding, who still can be a valuable part of the rotation.
Freeman has got to get over the trash talking and flexing he does after he makes a play. He is going to continue to pick up cheap fouls this way and will ultimately hurt the team. Time to grow up, son!

How many games can you play before you don’t qualify. Although with the concussion probably get exemption.

In basketball, once you step in the floor you lose your ability to red shirt.

For a medical redshirt, I’m not certain what the formula is, but it’s probably around less than 1/3 of the games. They shut JBo down after 10 games a few seasons back.

I agree and I agreed with Jess mentioning it against Rider.

But…. Having rewatched the game, we saw Freeman get in the face of the Rider 7’2” guy after the made basket. Right before that on the other end of the floor, the 7’2” guy had a put back dunk and stared down 6’3” Thelwell.

I agree Freeman needs to let his game do his talking for him, but I respect that he was sticking up for his guys too. I’m guessing Jess missed the Rider guy staring down Thelwell right before it.

Don’t think Utah State is as good as they usually are this year.

I think they are tougher than you think.

There are 364 D1 schools. KenPom currently ranks Iowa (5-0) at #41.

On Jan 3 we play 100% conference games. Until then:

Nov 22 vs #48 Utah St (Kansas City)
Nov 26 vs #327 USC Upstate
Dec 3 vs #61 Northwestern
Dec 7 at #25 Michigan
Dec 12 vs #7 Iowa State
Dec 15 vs #359 New Orleans
Dec 21 vs #52 Utah (Sioux Falls)
Dec 30 vs #356 New Hampshire

Jan 3 at #40 Wisconsin

I was probably confusing them with another mountain west team. Yeah they’ve been good the last couple years.

Utah State has four players left from last year’s ncaa tournament team and a brand new coach.
Not impressed that they scored 117 last week on a DII school.
Their best player transferred in April and is starting for Kentucky. They have been winning by shooting well from 3, but have seen little defense. I think we handle business tomorrow night.

Josh wasn’t very aggressive last night. Dembele is another guy who isn’t aggressive offensively.
The play where Dembele got the ball 5 feet from the basket with a clear path to the rim and somehow ended up settling for an awkward fadeaway was pretty damning. Not sure if Dembele’s playing hurt or what, but if they want to keeping using Traore as a spark off the bench, I think they’d get more out of Koch as a starter than Dembele.

I’m not so completely down on Ladji. I think he sets pretty good screens and his shot is decent but and this is glaring. He needs to rebound like his life depends on it. Same with Chris Tadjo if he ever gets on the court. Freeman needs big time help rebounding

I don't think Ladji has a high basketball IQ. Seems to be lost out there
