I think I’m beginning to understand why your name has “dub” in it.That should be fun. My Colorado friends are coming out to catch the Phil shows on the west coast before Telluride/ Red Rocks shows
Tell me more…. I’m a bit slow on the uptake, maybe. (Many think I just misspelled dum.)I think I’m beginning to understand why your name has “dub” in it.

Naw….. pronounced differently. this is dub like dub reggae. And everyone knows that has NOTHING to do with hoib.Doobies
Just like everywhere else. If you think Iowa has problems with mosquitos, spiders, snakes, then visit the gulf coast swamps. Everyone has something to deal with.No real need to leave Iowa.
Bitter Winters, sweltering Summers, blizzards, tornadoes, mosquitos, spiders, snakes, drought
- what more could one want?
Sounds like great fun to me.I'm thinking about making a road trip to Telluride, CO in June to see a Phil & Friends show
Telluride is awesome...except for all the Texans thereI'm thinking about making a road trip to Telluride, CO in June to see a Phil & Friends show
Yes, but we don't have hurricanes. No real need to leave Iowa.

Well, I remember one weather event back in like, 1990 that would have ALMOST qualified as a hurricane blowing across Iowa.Yes, but we don't have hurricanes.
We deal with rain here in the winter. And it feels pretty darn cold when it’s 36* and raining.Just like everywhere else. If you think Iowa has problems with mosquitos, spiders, snakes, then visit the gulf coast swamps. Everyone has something to deal with.
Two questions about Eugene (and wrestling):We deal with rain here in the winter. And it feels pretty darn cold when it’s 36* and raining.
There is a general lack of sun in winter. (So, I drive to the coast most every weekend as it tends to be sunnier there in winter.)
But we really have no other weather or pesky creepy crawlers to deal with. Wasps and hornets maybe.
Homelessness is a big issue here. Covid has made it a lot worse. (I didn’t put that in the weather/insect answer but considered it.)Two questions about Eugene (and wrestling):
1. Doesn't Phil Knight own the University of Oregon? Can he be blamed for them dropping wrestling?
2. Don't you live in the homeless capital of the United States, even worse that L.A. or Portland? God bless these poor souls, but does that get depressing?
Despite those questions, I'd live in Eugene in a heartbeat, especially if the university brought back wrestling. At least you can watch NAIA wrestling in Ashland, and they have some decent JUCO wrestling there as well. FWIW, I hear that Brookings gets more sun in winter than parts north or south.
That would be tough to see every day. However, at little time at the beach wouldn't be hard to take either.Homelessness is a big issue here. Covid has made it a lot worse. (I didn’t put that in the weather/insect answer but considered it.)
There was a point during Covid lockdown that I did find it depressing. I work in a social service program with many homeless clients. It started getting to me when my personal time and space was being invaded away from work.
The part that gets me most is driving to work on a cold and rainy morning and seeing people sitting on street corners, uncovered and wet to the bone….
I’m on the coast most weekends. Not really the beach. More areas of lava flow and headlands with big waves. That would be tough to see every day. However, at little time at the beach wouldn't be hard to take either.
Pistols at 10 paces?I’m on the coast most weekends. Not really the beach. More areas of lava flow and headlands with big waves.
And I’ve thought of getting up to Corvallis for a duel some day. It’s not far.
Don't be a moran. there is webster spelling and there is cess pool spelling.Pistols at 10 paces?
Naw. I’m in Crazy Town, about 90 miles south of Portland. (Eugene)Are you near WA? I’ve been to Portland but that’s it. I live in the great state of NC, but maybe moving back to Iowa.
Just a derecho.Yes, but we don't have hurricanes.
I am from Cedar Rapids and lived there my first 18 years, then joined the Marine Corps. Then spent 28 years in the Marines, been in California (2 Yrs); Okinawa (3 Yrs); Vietnam (1 Yr); New Jersey (5 Yrs) Washington DC (4 Yrs) Hawaii (10 Yrs) and Kansas (3 Yrs) then retired from the Marines. Work for Sprint for 20 Yrs and retired again. Now live in Davenport, Florida. I have been a season ticket holder since 1985. I still have three tickets just cannot give them up. My nephew uses them if I don't fly up. I have loved the Hawks my entire life. Although I helped young man to go to Iowa State, Zach Roberson, he was a three time All America and NCAA Champ at 133 his senior year.
