Do you still live in Iowa?

Rattlesnakes. Far NW Iowa.
Snakes shouldn't be called a problem, just because they exist. Are these rattlers attacking , extremely numerous, or . a problem because one has to watch for them when walking or hiking. What kind of rattlers? The kind of snake I liked to see when I was a kid was the blue racer, which I understand are not very much seen anymore.

Where was that?

Absolutely. Texas sheep are better than Iowa's.

For anyone looking to move back you can get a free lot and a $40k house abatement if you build a home in Primghar. Great little place.

I had to train county staff in northwest Iowa over the fall in 2021 and Primgar had to be the crappiest small town county seat I have yet to visit in Iowa or other states I've visited.

They should give you a house and then pay you 40,000 to live there

I'm in Iowa again, but hoping it is only a short term deal. Des Moines really is a nice area, but a lot of my friends who live here are married with kids and it's just not where I'm at in life. I'm out of town for 3-4 days at a time during the week so it makes it harder to meet new people. Also doesn't help that the GF is a homebody.

I grew up in OBrien county and that one had me scratching my head as well.

I mean, where are they even shopping for groceries, Spencer or Sheldon?

The lunch option every day was pizza ranch haha. Primghar was a dump
I wish I could argue with you. It’s my home county seat. On the other hand, we shot a lot of pheasants around Primghar back in the day. That part of the county can be birdy.

Sorry you didn't like it. I guess everyone looks for different things when looking where to live. I love it here.

O'Brien County has seven grocery stores so usually at one of those.

What's tough is watching most small towns in the Midwest drying up and blowing away.
It's incredible seeing on Ancestry.com that at one time 90+% of Iowa's small towns had HIGH SCHOOLS!

No, Live in Wisconsin.

Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin all might as well be the same state as far as I'm concerned. Except Wisconsin has the best cheese.

I'm glad to see nobody has disputed my cheese claim. Smart folks.
Okay, you had to brag, so here it is:
Upstate New York has the best cheese IMHO, followed by Vermont and California, but I concede that Whisky cheese may be better than Iowa or Minnysoda, except for Maytag Blue. Don't they color that cheddar yellow in Wisky?

And they're not the same state. They're not even the same within each state. The Driftless is way different than Door County, for example. Iowa City is way different than Orange City. Winona is way different than Hibbing.
Happy now? ;)

I went on Wisconsin cheese curd bender back in the late 90’s and think the last of that cement gut bomb has finally left the building.

These days, Humboldt Fog is the one cheese that I consistently buy while rotating out most others.

"Humboldt Fog" - as in Humboldt Iowa???

But it sure as sh*t makes you foggy. They got a documentary out it that was fairly interesting.
It’s a different world in those hills. I spent nine months overseeing a medical coop’s garden, camping on the property most of the time.

There are dairy farms on the coast and Cypress Grove makes good cheese. Pretty sure there are oyster farms too.
