Another difference is the attacks on Pearl Harbor and 9/11 brought Americans together for a common cause. The January 6th attack is viewed by about 25% of our population as an act by Patriots. In that way 1-6-2021 was a more successful attempt at bringing an end to democracy as we know it. That 25 to 30 percent of the population is fully supportive of passing laws and changing voting rules in an effort to be able to overturn any election results that don't go their way.

On the day after Trump's inauguration around 500,000 people protested in DC at Women's March. None of them attempted to break into the Capitol. They didn't bring weapons. They exercised their 1st amendment rights.

A comparison statement would be: January 6th was as bad as September 11th. Alternatively, January 6th was no where near as bad as December 7th. Listing it as one of the events that resonate throughout the citizens as a time when our democracy was attacked is not a comparison.
I understand that there are posters on this board with that belief. However, my post was in response to the original statement the VP Harris made a comparison. I accepted that as valid without doing the research on what she actually. That was my mistake.

Yesterday I got a letter from Social Security telling me that they were raising my monthly payment by 5.9% The same letter indicated that my monthly payment for Medicare is being raised by 14%, although this was not explicitly stated; I had to calculate the percentage myself.
That letter was composed by a bureaucrat ... most likely a deep state Democrat who is a first cousin to the Democrats who are telling you that we are experiencing a rocking and rolling, burst of economic growth.

For our country, 9/11 and 12/7 were both like very bad car accidents that yielded multiple life threatening injuries that were repaired and mended pretty quickly. 1/6 is like a festering cancer that was finally diagnosed and the prognosis is not good. It will take long term treatment that has already been very painful and not yet produced remission. There is hope but we are not out of the woods yet.
1/6 was more like a skinned knee, get up brush yourself off and keep moving probably no bandaid needed.
1/6 is a symptom, not the disease, and the deeper issue is a political problem, not a political party problem.
