Don't even bother guarding Kofi

How he only had 3 points in the first half lol is wow. Good adjustments but that first half should have sunk Illinois. Coming back from a 21-2 run on the road was impressive.

Iowa has work to do if they want to get in the top half of conference standings.

Math IS hard.

Prior to the Rutgers game 67.6% (25/37).
After the Rutgers game going 5 of 6 69.8% (30/43)

I understand that it's still not the 64% that I mentioned earlier but if you're going to lecture people on math you want to get it right yourself Big Ass.
LOL! Guilty as charged. But my error was still smaller than yours. :)

Now at 71%

I wonder if Komi regrets coming back. From what little I’ve seen, and I could easily be wrong, I don’t think he’s really added anything to his game.

He has improved his free throw shooting (though not tonight), worked on kicking the ball out of the double/triple teams, and has improved his footwork around the basket. All things he received feedback on from the NBA. From everything i've read or heard, he is very happy to be back.

He’s a NPOY candidate on potentially the best team in the conference. I don’t know what you mean no development. His defense has been measurably better most of the year, and he’s showing he can hit FTs.

Everyone is a NPOY candidate at the beginning of the season. To me, Davis is the NPOY as it stands right now and he would have a fairly significant lead.

All of the analytics sites disagree with that. He’s just a hot name right now, but that will likely fade away. Really good player, but he’s just a fairly efficient guard that shoots a lot. Wisconsin isn’t good enough to sustain this play, and as they fade, so will his hopes.

There are some games that Cockburn displays absolutely no true basketball skills. They throw him the ball and he just bulls his way to the basket. Effective, especially as he seems to be immune from foul calls, but hardly skillful basketball. That said, his numbers dictate his worth so I suspect he will get a lot of consideration for post season honors.

This take is.. Interesting. I watch people intentionally shove him, bring their arms down across his face, 3-4 people reach in at once, and too often he doesn't get the whistle because he's big enough to absorb contact instead of just flailing around.

It's a shame people can't appreciate arguably the most dominant big in college basketball because he isn't out jacking up 3s or putting the ball on the floor 20 feet out but that's where we are I guess.

I think you're looking at it from a biased perspective, I do this with my team too. Kofi seems to bang around and use his weight to push people around, often slamming his shoulder into them like a football player. He often gets away with these fouls, similar to Garza. I think being such a popular player in the league has the refs consciously or unconsciously giving that person a little leeway.

That's why I love this game....for anybody watching Illini/PU.....PU had this game in control and for all purposes....won in regulation.....but nah....too easy and no drama to tell that story. Like yesterday's game but too more talented teams but it's college basketball at it's best. In OT now - 72-71 Illini and Kofi just fouled out....crazy game.

He doesn't need bball skills when refs allow him to play football! :)

He got away with tons of crap vs us....if you're looking for pity you better keep searching!

Everybody has some degree of bias on their own players and other teams players and that includes fanbases of teams that don't have Kofi such as yourselves.

So, yeah, we're all on the same boat there.

Pity? No. An iota of objectivity with the fanbase that might actually surpass Illinois in crying about officials when you guys literally are regularly ranking as one of the worst defensive teams (among remotely overall relevant and overall good teams) in the country the last 5 years.. Well..

I'm not the one who's cheering for a guy who claims, in a post game presser, "I think I was literally fouled every single play on the offensive end". Kofi gets hulk smashed and absorbs 2/3 fouls on a lot of his post moves and doesn't cry in the post game presser about it. He just continues to play.

Easy to dominate opponents when can throw your big body around to force 'fouling' contact because the other person can't subvert the laws of physics to battle him without fear of whistles.

Its either get in foul trouble early and often trying to defend his 'bull in a china shop' offensive moves, or pretty much let him have his way.

Davis, top candidate for POY was 5 of 19 from the field while kofi was 16 of 19. Kofi won.

Illinois has had a favorable schedule so far.
The top teams MSU, Wisconsin, Purdue and lesser so, Michigan have all come to Champaign and you know about home cookin. The one game with OSU will be a home game as well.
Illinois will travel to Purdue and MSU and they have been less than remarkable on the road.

Lol

"Illinois will travel to Purdue and MSU and they have been less than remarkable on the road." Illini are 24-3 in their last 27 games so they must be a really bad road team.

Yes he does get fouled and not called. He also runs over people after banging them out of place with his shoulder bump and the commits the same number of offensive fouls. Kofi should foul out in 25-30 minutes every game.

Kofi came back because the NBA value of a huge strong center with limited perimeter offense/defense is not that high. I think Kofi will probably stick in NBA a long time but I doubt he is a star at NBA level.

Kofi manhandles people drastically smaller than him and he doesn't need to foul to do it. He's bigger and he moves with an athleticism rarely seen for somebody at that size.

I mean he took 10 shots (9 around the hope) in the first half alone and had... Zero attempted free throws. He's not getting any favors from officials.

If there's a guy out there that does it's Zach Edey. Watch him in the post regularly clearing out space with his elbow into defenders faces. It's there a dozen times a game. Watched film of him eyeing up Kofi being throwing one into his face.

Watched Edey pulling the same b.s. yesterday. No other centers get the free pass he does for whatever reason.

As far as him being an nba player.. Meh. Don't see it in today's game. At least not much of an impact from him if he does play. He just doesn't do what the NBA wants out of bigs today. 20-30 years ago he's a top 5 pick. Today? Maybe late second round? It is what it is.

This line of thinking is such a crybaby complaint. Stronger guys shouldn't be able to use their strength against me because I'm not strong enough. I can't do anything because he's stronger. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
