Doom and Gloom

Here we go again someone complaining about the posters that complain. Give it a rest ! If you don't like what they're saying don't read it.
The people who complain about the people who complain about the people who complain. The vicious cycle never ends.

But let's look at some double standard practices here:

"If you don't like what they're saying don't read it." Common reply to excuse complaining and having a negative opinion. More people agree with this sentiment than disagree, at least in my travels.

"If you don't like what Iowa is doing, then stop watching it." Another common response, however this gets met with much more hostility. But this is essentially the opposite reply to those with negative comments about Iowa football, or anything in general. Doesn't just have to be Iowa football. But as soon as someone says this, I hear, "No.....No....NO...You can't tell us what to do! NO! We'll watch what we want to watch! NO, you don't tell us what to do! That's ridiculously unconstitutional!!! HELL NO!!! NOOO!!!"

So then the negative fans get their way through more complaining. They'll get to watch Iowa football AND not like what they're seeing AND complain about it, and the other fans who have a problem with that just have to sit there and put up with it simply because everyone is entitled to share their opinion, right or wrong.

I'm just telling you that's the way it is. Negative fans don't want positive fans complaining about them ("if you don't like it, don't read it.".....the ultimate negative fan deal with it response), but they also want the right to complain about everything else.

That's the double standard. That's the way it is. And the best part is that negative fans can't really disagree with this because, otherwise, it'd just be further proving my point. The only option they usually have in response is to challenge whether I'm a negative fan or a positive fan. I'm neither.....regardless of what you all assume.

But hey...............if you don't like what I'm saying, don't read it.

Everyone talks about our recruiting failures. Wasn't Ward a 4 star OT?

If a walk-on or converted TE is better, why blame the coach for making them starters. Hurts losing an OL like Peirsbacher (sp?) to Bama but a lot of schools lose top players to Bama. He's a kid that would have probably started at Iowa this year.

Looking at our young OT's reminds me of several lower ranked tackles (Gallery and Scherff) who developed into all-Americans by their senior year. These young men have good feet and athletic ability, technique takes time.

That a valid point. Besides Ward, who was very highly regarded, other higher rated players (such as Mitch Keppy) have been passed by the two OTs at the top of the depth chart. Keppy was a 5.6 high 3-star recruit according to Rivals with interest from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Nebraska.

Maybe these guys earned it. If there is one area of coaching that Ferentz has earned the benefit of the doubt, it is the O-line. That said, no coach is above mistakes and hopefully Myers and Boettger continue to improve.

I looked at the top 5 or 6 threads and all were negative. Frydaze, PhxIowa, CedarValley are the ring leaders. It is obvious how you feel about Ferentz, because you are incessant with your negative posts.

Wonder why any kid would want to come here with so much negativism. I for one am excited about the season. The defense should be better with our LBers having another year under their belt. Dbacks are a strength and I think Johnson will be a beast to compliment Ott.

C.J. is who everybody was begging for last year, RB should provide more big plays and WR is adding a lot of speed. To me the biggest question mark is the OL which could struggle early but get stronger as the season progresses. Special teams needs to be better and should be an area of focus this fall.

How about giving it a rest for awhile, we all know how you feel from the ponderous negative posts since season's end. The young men that lace it up every day deserve our support not our negative comments.

I for one can't wait for the season to start. Go Hawks!

The fact our starting offensive tackles had one D1 offer combined continues to amaze me. How a school like Iowa finds itself in that position is incredibly frustrating but it mirrors the issues we have across most positions on this team. I will be surprised if Iowa finishes at or above .500 this year. We were outclassed by a wide margin against a mid level SEC team in our bowl game last December and our talent level has taken a step backwards from last year by most accounts. Despite an incredibly light schedule once again I don't see how this team finishes with a winning record. I hope I'm wrong.

You were wrong! You are fired and must leave the board forever!
