Downey...

McRib is injury prone or doesn't like going in pain...how many matches did he wrestle last year? How many so far this year? He has a total of 30 matches wrestled in three years. If he could have wrestled if the dual was on the line, then he was good enough to go against Brooks...especially with a 20 day break in between now and Midlands.

Papa McRib talks about McRib sticking this guy or that guy but he only has five pins over the last 30 matches, one TF (no backs), and two majors...all of this against largely subpar competition.

His best wins were against Haught (2X), Wellington and Rotert who was one unfinished duck from losing against Wilcke in our dual against them. Let's face it, 197 was not tough once you got past a few guys. He had no top 5 wins and was majored twice against Pfarr (who Brooks beat btw). Pfarr has had greater success after his move up out of 184.

The only reason he gets talked about is because he and his Daddy are Twitter "personalities." They talk a bunch of junk but after looking at his record against even subpar guys, he just doesn't score points. Beat Dean? Gabe Dean will eat both him and his Daddy's lunch.

BTW JB, you may know a different side but he brings this on himself. He and his Dad are amusing...and it should serve them well in whatever third rate MMA league he makes the jump to for four or five matches before he retires. Dude can't play in pain. You might think he is "getting our goat" but both are kind of weak...hell, Statue Dan Gable ate his lunch on Twitter.

One of the reasons he didn't wrestle much last year is that it took him 2.5 years to receive his AA.

LOL at the Statue comment. So true. DGS has a way with him.

JB came to an Iowa board defended a guy who's hates Iowa fans and is hated by Iowa fans. And he's acting surprised he hasn't been treated better. Odd.

JB was giving perspective but weird part was him being surprised his perspective was "questioned." Don't care either way.

Actually, it was an answer on state's board when they compared him to Cory Clark being injured which kind of pissed me off. Thought I would post relevant stuff on here. Never really examined Downey's career before. I think he is a decent wrestler but is overhyped by a lot of folks. Not so much work if you know where to find it ;) H/T to Andre @

it's sad if the guy is living through his kid and even more sad if he needs people he doesn't like to post about him, by the way Gerald broflasky is a douche,

I don't know if the guy is living thru his kid or not. I don't really think PD3 is all that impressive. Hardly a tough enough kid to wrestle thru some injuries like 90% of wrestlers do. Seems pretty soft, if you ask me. Picks his matches and avoids the tough ones.

I really doubt PD3 and Sammy meet at Midlands. If he gets that far, PD3 will avoid Brooks and claim he reinjured his... fill in the blanks!

Any one have a list of midlands teams this year? I'd like to see who all else will be in that 184 bracket?

I haven't really seen many people hype him up other than his Dad and this board, but he does have a pretty good freestyle pedigree. Any hype would be related to his freestyle accolades. 2nd at junior worlds and has domestic freestyle wins over Logan Storley, Quentin Wright, Richard Hamlin, Tyrel Todd, Tyler Caldwell and Sammy Brooks (7-7 on criteria) to name a few.

His folkstyle resume, I would agree, is not very impressive. I tend to think that Brooks would have handled him if they had wrestled on saturday, mainly due to the fact that I have no confidence he would be in 7 min shape.

"You can't learn when you're talking"... someone said that once. # of posts doesn't equate with knowledge or automatically make one right.
I'm not talking, and I did learn something, but I'm keeping it to myself.
