Dr. Carson disqualifies himself

Carson is a grade-A bigot. I would personally be very embarrassed to be a Republican these days. Your party is in major trouble if Trump, Carson, and Cruz are your leading candidates.

I'm sure he's operated on all types of people black/white/heterosexual/homosexual (because you say it's not a choice ;) ). He simply is stating his opinion, why does it matter to you?

It's not like you're voting for him anyway, btw I like your avatar it's kinda cute. I may use that!

Why does it matter to me? Because the man is running for President. Are you serious?

So what? He's running for POTUS and wouldn't vote for a Muslim candidate, it's not that big of a deal.

We don't even have a Muslim running for POTUS. I think you're going to blow your wad over nothing.

The man is an open homophobe and Islamaphobe. I'm sorry that you're so wrapped up in his race to not recognize his bigotry.

I'm just sorry I even started talking to you.

I don't think he's a homophobe or Islamaphobe as he said he would consider voting for a Muslim in congress.

You must be very confused now. You should go take a nap champ!

The 2nd leading Republican candidate just said that Muslims shouldn't be able to be President. How is this not a huge deal? You're smarter than this.

Do you have some sort of learning disability that prevent you from comprehending the English language? Carson didn't say he wouldn't vote for a Muslim. He said a Muslim shouldn't be the leader of this nation. He is also opposed to gay rights as well as thinking it's a choice. He is undeniably both a homophobe and an Islamaphobe.

I realize you are a bit learning disabled but our POTUS swears in to office on a bible.

You do understand that's by choice. There's absolutely nothing that requires it. TR didn't use a Bible and John Quincy took the oath using a law book.

Edit: I see you've already been schooled on this incorrect claim.

Both swag and IowaHawk have to be trolling this thread. You guys seriously can't be this dumb.

Because it's his OPINION. I don't like all of your OPINIONS, but I certainly wont throw a fit about it.

Ben Carson has as much say about a Muslim not being POTUS as you or I do.

Well, thanks for admitting that you're not smarter than this.

You're pretty worked up, check your blood pressure!

You are putting the words in his mouth. Where else did you get "disqualify?"

See, there you go, a reasonable, proper stance. Eliminating from HIS OPINION an entire class based solely on religion is ridiculous. Call it idiotic, sure. But he isn't disqualifying anyone or advocating that they should, in fact, be disqualified.

He said "I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that" because Islam is not consistent with the Constitution.

So explain how he ISN'T disqualifying all Muslims? Some people are trying waaaay too hard to defend this.

It's exactly what he said. That it's his opinion doesn't change that.

"Exactly" what quote are you going to post to back that assertion?

And OF COURSE the fact that it is "his opinion" changes it. A person running for office who believes that a specific religion is Constitutionally banned from/legislatively barred from/or should by physically stopped by government from becoming POTUS is vastly different than BELIEVING that a Muslim, including their ideals/wants/etc., should not have his support, nor his vote.

That is not what he said. He said he wouldn't support them, nor vote for them. He did not say we (government) should stop them from a) running or b) get inaugurated.

I don't think Huey should be POTUS, and I believe that strongly. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop others from voting for him.

You are cute. Yet you would vote for Hillary in a heart beat and come on here every day defending her. You are truly pathetic

He doesn't think a Muslim should be "in charge of the nation" due to a religion that is not consistent with the Constitution. He said it. Clearly.

So you're opposed to one person...based on his views. And somehow you think that's the same as barring an entire group from consideration based on their religion. Odd.

Because words are goddamn important. Also, that is not his quote, at least that I have seen. I posted the reported exchange earlier:

I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that," the retired neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Carson, meanwhile, was asked Sunday whether a president's faith should matter to voters.

"I guess it depends on what that faith is," he said. "If it's inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter. But if it fits within the realm of America and consistent with the Constitution, no problem."

Asked whether Islam is consistent with the Constitution, Carson said: "No, I don't -- I do not."

He said he is open, though, to voting for a Muslim for Congress.

It is a bit ironic considering the thread title...the actual spot where someone wishes to disqualify someone from presidency.

What on earth do you think disqualify means? Which words are you pointing to that you equate to him disqualifying anyone? He was, apparently, asked two questions: Would he advocate for a Muslim. No. Should their faith matter? Yes.

So you're opposed to one person...based on his views. And somehow you think that's the same as barring an entire group from consideration based on their religion. Odd.

There you go again, using words that don't mean what you want them to.

He is not barring anyone from doing anything.

Try it this way:

Mike Huckabee wants the government to bar all people of the same gender from marrying each other. He wants the government to stop this from occurring.

On the other hand, Rubio appears to disagree with gay marriage, but isn't pushing for the government to do anything about it.

Carson is saying what he would do as a voter, as a supporter, what he personally believes he should do...................not that the government should stop Muslims from running/winning.

Carson's mentality is a scary one to have. It is one based on hate, fear, and opposition to freedom of religion. What he said is not that far removed from what Hitler believed. Both men believed that their hated religious group should be prevented from being put in charge. The even sadder thing is that a man like this is one of the leading Republican candidates.

For once, I can say that Swag's nonchalance is actually correct. This, literally, does not matter, ESPECIALLY in the context of his other views, and in relation to the GOPer's views.

Patently. Absurd. You Godwin's law moron.

Replace "Muslim" with "Jew" and this is what Carson would have said word for word. It's straight up Hitler talk.

"I would not advocate that we put a Jew in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with having a Jew in charge."

You can almost hear Adolf's cadence and pounding of the podium with this quote.

I always thought that Carson made for a bad candidate. Who knew that he shares some of the core values of the Nazi movement? Scary stuff.

Did it matter when Hitler talked of limited the rights of minority groups back in the 1930s.

If it makes everyone feel better, a black evangelical republican will never be elected.

Where? Use the words he used. This shouldn't be hard, it was a short exchange. This site has great quote features, use them.

LOL...if someone said they "absolutely would not agree" with putting a black man in the WH because it was inconsistent with the Constitution - and that's exactly what he said about Muslims - we wouldn't be having this conversation.

"I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that,"

Not..."I wouldn't vote for a Muslim". He doesn't think a Muslim - ANY Muslimv - should be put "in charge of this nation". You can keep pretending he said something different. you're ong.wr

Yes, WE would, because that wouldn't be disqualifying them.

Are you thinking I am a GOPer? Is that why you are stuck?

But even then, (since you refuse to discuss the actual issue with me as I tried earlier), religion is an entire conglomeration of certain, specific ideals and beliefs....being black is not.

Did it matter when Hitler talked of limited the rights of minority groups back in the 1930s.

You are too ignorantly trumped up on your own farts to realize the difference. In your post, Hitler is vying for power so that he can TAKE AWAY those rights, that is exactly what you are saying he is advocating.

What I'm pointing out to you is that Carson IS NOT ADVOCATING THAT, at least not in any of the quotes from yesterday. Do you have some others I should be looking at?

"I would not advocate that we put a Jew in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with having a Jew in charge."

How extremely American of you. Are you thinking this hasn't been said by the MAJORITY of the leaders/power players of the United States since our inception?
