If I were them, I’d look at Eric Henderson at SDSU.
One good thing they have going for them is the last 3 coaches they’ve hired have gone on to be very successful at their next stop so the job has quite a bit of appeal now.

I didn’t realize it had been announced that they need a new coach.
It’s been rumored he already accepted the Drake job . Pretty good source too.
Drake has 3 home run coaches in their last 3 hires. I’m pretty confident they’ll find another good one.
But the liquor bill would be astronomical.
I thought you would apply for the job, being you are the great pretender....
I don’t see Gatens as a HC. Least nothing now has shown me or from what I’ve heard to person connected to the program. Seems like a decent enough asst. but not sure ready for for grind of being head guy.
That being said rumor I’ve heard is BG wants gatens to stay and be on the next staff. Is technically the interim if they had gone to postseason and basically only coach who hasn’t cleaned out his office.
Could be used as continuity to maybe get some of the portal guys back.
The new coach has to want them. Has to be mutual.
A lot of the guys on this year’s roster have upside and the new coach would be wise to try and keep them. Same goes for the 3 recruits, though one has decommited already.
Haven’t heard much about other 2 recruits. Would like diakete to stay. Team will need some bigs. Also for those wondering here are 2 guys who committed to drake. Zero clue if BM would try and bring either to Iowa. We saw Fran bring basabe who was a Siena commit who had a solid career at Iowa.

Obviously, but he seems like a no brainer. He played the way McCollum coached and he has a built in relationship with the players.
I would, but A) I don't want to move to DSM from San Diego B) I'm doing very well as a retiree C) I wouldn't be able to come on this message board and critic the hell outta you.... lol

I have nothing for or against Gatens, but does anyone even know if he’s a good assistant coach? Not trying to be flippant either, I’m genuinely curious if he has a lot of standout qualities and shows promise.
It just seems like people invoke his name quite a bit because he’s a legacy and played here.
I think he's a decent recruiter, kids seem to like him. Helped Brock with his shot over the offseason
So why is Drake's AD not being poached? Clearly they have an eye for coaching talent.
