In an interview this morning, Kirk stated that Ogwo would be switching from football to track. Does this almost guarantee that Devonte Young will be playing this year?

Doesn't guarantee it but based on practice photos there is a good chance Young plays
Ogwo was low on depth chart so not big impact on WR playing time

6-10, Fr could play this year. Lattimore is one for sure..Stanley could end up at #2 on the depth chart..currently #3. Fwiw, Wilson is done.

Should we expect 2017 class to get a little bigger? Neither loss feels significant

So in other words he wasn't ever going to crack the two deeps? I mean, unless for some reason he just wanted to focus on track, why would there have to be a "switch" per se? Don't football players compete in track all the time at the collegiate level?

Pretty much and yes. Devon Allen and Adoree Jackson have been able to do both at a very high level the past couple years.

I imagine that Ogwo now will be able to focus on BOTH the indoor and outdoor track seasons.

Also, a football player, even at WR, develops their body differently than a sprinter would. Thus, Ogwo can also focus on a training regimen that is better for his sprinting endeavors.

Based on today's info it's pretty clear D. Young is playing this year, Stanely was potentially quite the steal out of Wisky, Lattimore will be subbing in at DT and the '17 class can go up a ride or two depending on walk-ons, etc, earning a ride this year.

Yes many football players compete in track, however; in this case Ogwo will not be on scholarship for football thus freeing up a scholarship.

Does Iowa track offer full rides or is Ogwo giving up $$$ to run indoor/outdoor track? Good luck to him!
I believe football and basketball are the only sports that generally give full rides.....wrestling, baseball, track etc. have to get creative with scholarship distribution.

My guess with need based and academic aid he's close to a full ride.
They give $$ based on points they would expect to contribute in BIG 10 meet.
From the times I saw he's a year or two away except maybe some relays some I'm guessing he's getting maybe 10-15% .

Ogwo must have been watching lots of Olympics and dreaming of gold medals. Good luck to him, I hope we're watching him in red white and blue in 2020.

DI (FWIW) reports that we probably haven't seen the last of Ogwo. Not sure if that refers to him coming back to the FB team or because he is an exceptional track athlete.

Pretty Kure track doesn't offer full rides. My guess is Ogwo will keep his football scholarship for 16-17 to participate in track and then be reduced to partial next year if he stays at Iowa after this year

Classes have started so KF can't give out new Achilles now. That is why I think he stays on this year
