Gotta combine Quad 1 and Quad 2, resume looks a lot better.Me too.
i just think our #328 nonconference schedule & having just one Quad 1 win is holding us back

Can't afford a misstep tonight. Need to step on the huskers' throats early and decisively and let them know this game is not up for grabs.
Your point is valid, but in some ways it does work that way. You can’t just look at Quad 1 in a vacuum. The strong Quad 2 results are a positive that can counteract the Quad 1 results (certainly not as much as the Quad 1 issues, but still). Plus the Quad cutoffs are so arbitrary, I think that’s why the Committee likes looking at opponents NET so much as well.i wish that's how it worked!
Would love to grab one of those. Our non-con was weak, but we are strong! The remaining road games:
March 3 at Michigan (Quad 1: Away vs 1-75)
March 6 at Illinois (Quad 1: Away vs 1-75)
How?Michigan State beating Purdue probably gives Iowa another Q1 win but now MSU passes Iowa in the Big Ten standings.
Iowa holds the H2H so I think they stay ahead.Michigan State beating Purdue probably gives Iowa another Q1 win but now MSU passes Iowa in the Big Ten standings.
A month ago was hoping the Hawks would just find a way in...I am now hopeful that they can be under the 7 seed line.
Me too. If history is any indication we will get the 8 in the Gonzaga bracket.I think Iowa has a fighting chance to get through the first weekend as a 6 seed.

Maybe you can act like you're Iowa's AD and Fran. Who would you have had Iowa play in the non-conference that would help Iowa at the end of the season? Iowa St is a given and Iowa doesn't pick who they play in the Gavitt games or the ACC/BT challenge. That leaves you 7 games against teams that are wiling to come to Carver and a neutral site game. I stand by and wait to read your responds.Right now we are squarely off the bubble, but if we were one of the last teams being considered, i do think our nonconference schedule would have been an issue to Committee members
I assume a bunch of teams in the 150-220 range instead of a bunch 300+ teams?Maybe you can act like you're Iowa's AD and Fran. Last year’s schedule was more appropriate. 8 Q3/Q4 games last year vs 14 this year.
Just bring back the Carver Hawkeye Classic. Q3/4 first opponent, Q2 second opponent.
I’d take an annual game up in South Dakota too against a decent opponent.
But we couldn’t do much worse…see my previous post. we could do even better than that.
But we couldn’t do much worse…
I would LOVE for this to happen and I’d make it a tournament. But it won’t because you are losing 2 home games and all the revenue that comes with it. The athletic department makes more money when 8000 show up to watch Iowa play CreamPuff U than it does when 10,000 show up to play Iowa in Wells Fargo arena.I wish we could get the HyVee Classic back.
A Quad 2 game is a Neutral Site Game (Wells Fargo Arena in DSM) vs an opponent with a NET Ranking of 51-100.
Well, on a Saturday of some weekend, why not play #92 Drake. The next day, play #100 UNI. Right there you get TWO Quad 2 games in.

My guess is avoiding these Q4 opponents is easier said than done. You are looking at this after the regulag season is almost over while a AD has to build the schedule years before games are ever played and convince these teams to come to Carver when every decent projected Q3 team is probably in high demand and some are trying to win themselves.
Whatever that number is it’s still more than a game at a neutral site,But what are we paying these Quad 4 teams to come to Iowa City, where few tickets are sold? The net income for these Quad 4 home games can't be that much, right?

I saw the post but this doesn’t change anything that I’ve said. This list doesn’t exist when they built the non conference schedule 2-3 years ago.I stated this before, but I don't think it should be that hard to have better home nonconference opponents. Eight Quad 4 home opponents is way too many.
Here are 20 teams, for starters, that could replace a Quad 4 home opponent.
Quad 2 Home Game Potential Opponents:
#51 UAB (Conference USA)
#62 Missouri State (MVC)
#63 Vermont (American East)
#65 St Louis (Atlantic 10)
#66 Fresno State (Mountain West)
#67 Belmont (OVC)
#68 South Dakota State (Summit League)
#69 Chattanooga (SoCon)
#70 Towson (CAA)
#72 Santa Clara (WCC)
#75 New Mexico State (WAC)
Quad 3 Home Game Potential Opponents:
#80 Toledo
#82 St Bonaventure (A 10)
#88 UCF (AAC)
#90 Furman (SoCon)
#92 Drake (MVC)
#96 Bradley (MVC)
#98 Grand Canyon (WAC)
#99 Tulane (AAC)
#100 UNI (MVC)
