ESPN has new bowl projections up

Nothing against Houston, but they are the one team I'd really prefer not to play. Obviously, Rose is ideal, but if we were to win over FSU in the Fiesta, it would be a nice win for the program

I'm an almost lock for the bowl. If we end up playing Houston I might consider saving the 3 grand.

Notre Dame any where.
Agreed, Iowa would definitely be an easier road than Ohio State, Houston, or Florida State for us. But I'm pretty sure that they will pick ND vs Ohio State. I still think Ohio State is still the best B10 team.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the rose took and entirely different approach and took Ohio state and Iowa rather than Stanford? Won't happen but wow it would be fun

1 guy says Hawks v. FSU in Fiesta, the other says v. Stanford in the Rose. FWIW.
Impressed spartan fan here. Iowa played a helluva game and deserves to be in the rose bowl.

Speaking from experience (2014)... It's the best consolation prize... And hardly even feels like settling given the reputation and history of the rose bowl and the big 10.

Younger fans might not appreciate this fact.

Iowa v Stanford in the rose bowl would be the only bowl game I watch outside of the (stupid) cfp.

An Iowa win in the Rose Bowl would help bring a lot of good feelings back for the end of this season too, as it would be accomplishing so much with a win like that which Iowa hasn't been able to win there since the 60's onward. Having attended two of those losses myself, it would have me feel personally a lot better if they were to win the RB.

No, but not sure that is relevant here. ND is 10-2, Iowa and Houston is 11-1.

Iowa is actually 12-1. ND is 10-2? Wow, with 10 wins I would think I'd remember one those against a real team. Did you guys beat anyone of note this year?

Either way, it's good your team was so scared of joining the B1G, or you'd be about 7-5.

did iowa play osu?

most TALENTED team is clearly OSU. But this year they just do not have the team chemistry they had last year, MSU was dead lucky to escape Michigan, Wisconsin was down a little this year and Michigan was up and down, northwestern the same.

Did ND play Florida St or UNC? I know they played Clemson but the ACC teams that ND played outside of Clemson were not that good. ND played Stanford who lost to NW who we beat. I would take the win over Wisconsin on the road over the win ND had against Navy. Same goes with Pitt over Temple.

I HAVE to believe that Common Sense will prevail. The CFP committe will consider that MSU's D took it hard to both Iowa and tOSU, but will also consider:

1. tOSU was held to 132 yards, at HOME, and MSU was WITHOUT Connor Cook.
2. Iowa was held to 268 yards, on a neutral field, and MSU had Cook.
3. Iowa won their conference division, tOSU did not, and Iowa had to play one more game than tOSU, and won't be punished for losing this extra game, ESPECIALLY when it literally could have went either way up until the final seconds.
4. B1G/Delaney have flexed their muscle, B1G Network analysts IMMEDIATELY started lobbying for Iowa in Rose, MSU fans are voicing loud and clear that Iowa deserves the Rose, most tOSU fans are saying they HOPE they get the Rose, Fiesta SO wants tOSU/ND, Rose will want Iowa/Stanford after seeing last night's game.
5. Especially after last year, the CFP knows they won't get questioned much at all for putting Iowa over tOSU, but KNOW they will get torched and questioned nationally and loudly if they drop Iowa below tOSU.

Didn't ND beat Pitt @ Pitt (pretty convincingly as well)?

I think ultimately what works for Iowa going to the Rose is that Iowa and its fans I think thirst for a trip to the Rose Bowl and a chance to finally win there that would get far more interest in them going than other teams, and a bigger sense of it being worth more to their program there than other bowls. OSU I think just wants to go to a major bowl then, more having had recent success in the Rose Bowl, and the Fiesta would serve as well as the Rose, given the right matchup there.

It used to be the criteria for who went to the Rose Bowl was who hadn't been there for a longer period of time when the teams were tied. Iowa would win that battle, and arguably Iowa has a higher percentage at 12-1 than OSU at 11-1 purely on mathematical measurement.

Iowa also has many ties to Stanford with things like Tom Davis coaching there right before he coached at Iowa amongst other coaching synergy there. Iowa is one of the western most teams in the Big 10, and also has had that "jinx" for many years of losing to just about all teams they travel west to play. The Rose Bowl would help them conquer that jinx too.

Given that ND keeps using its publicity army against OSU's publicity army for greater regard too, I think OSU would be far more attracted to playing ND to set that battle right than Iowa wanting to settle it's west coast and Rose Bowl battles in the Rose against Stanford.

Umm, ND's SOS is 19, Iowa's is 69. You really want to discuss weak schedules? The only good team you had was MSU and you lost.

Again, who did you beat? We beat 13th ranked Northwestern 40-10. They beat Stanford AT Stanford. Stanford embarrassed ND.

Iowa State had a stong SOS and lost to all the good teams they played too. Nice comparison you're going for on your weak logic.

Enjoy the being OSU's whipping boys.

Yes, it was 42-10 in the fourth quarter. Pitt scored a couple TD's in garbage time. Iowa had to comeback to win. That's our only common opponent. soo.....

ND is a paper tiger and you know it. Play an impressive game and come back and talk to us. On second thought, just get the hell out of here and go back to your loser domer friends. You don't belong on a top 5 board.

ND played 5 top 25 teams (2 in the top 10). ND beat three of them. Iowa played two, lost one. ND SOS wins. Do you even follow college football? Enjoy being Stanford whipping boy. See you after the Rose bowl lol.
