I was hoping he could beat Brown yesterday, but I knew it would be difficult. He is not going to win a chess match with Brown. Lots of comments on here about Brown stalling and I somewhat agree. But, Mike has got to try something different. He can't stand around the first period. He has got to create some funk/scramble situations and hope he ends up on top. That said, Brown is rarely out of position so I understand it is easier said than done.

I hope Mike finishes strong today!

I believe Brown and Evans split matches last year (2-2) and they were close. This year (in my opinion) they aren't even close. Brown has opened a gap on Mike Evans and in both matches this year, Mike has just looked outclassed and "beat."

In my opinion, Evans has lost a lot of his offense this year. He's just not laying the wood on his opponents like he was last year.

I wonder why he's lost his offense?? I mean no disrespect to Ryan Morningstar but he was obviously no offensive juggernaut and he is clearly rubbing off on Moore and Evans. Everyone on here has a huge hard on for m* and I can't figure out why. You guys say he's a great recruiter but you can't honestly tell me these kids are coming to Iowa because of him that's just a joke.

I just think he loses that match 2-0 all day long. Why not open it up? 6-0 or 2-0, it is still a loss. At least give yourself a puncher's chance - throw the punch!

Sadly, I agree. Plus, I'm like a broken record on this, but Brown has always been a tough match-up for Mike due to his brute strength. It enables him to ride Mike pretty easily, to stand up and not get ridden by him, and to manhandle Mike in the ties, keeping Mike off his offense.

Like the match-up with Storley much more, as Storley isn't nearly as powerful as Brown and is more of a finesse guy. Evans handles that style much better.

It look like somebody else gets it.

Brown and Kokesh have both improved and opened a gap on Evans and Storley.

Without looking, does he even have a takedown in this tourney?

Spare me the Morningstar stuff. He's making Ryan look active in comparison. And he's a 5th year senior. Having no offense is on him at this point.

It's always on the wrestler in our room. None of our coaches tell guys not to shoot. Just because Morningstar wasn't an offensive juggernaut doesn't mean that he preaches his style of wrestling

I see a pattern the last few years at Iowa with their 5th year seniors= regression! What ever the reason, it is happening. Training to hard, injury, burnout, pressure. People bragging about B1G and how tough it is (it is), but do you really want to get beat up just 9 days before Nationals?

Iron sharpens iron. The Hawks will be battle-tested and ready to rock in St. Louis.

if that is true then what happened in the last few years? Iron sharpen iron is just 3 words, I would think every major program out there has been battle-tested this late in the season even without a Conference Championship. Not saying we don't need a Conference Championship, I sort of like the way B1G wrestlers beat each up before Nationals.

Create 4-5 scrambles per match and Mike wins. He is a significantly better scrambler than Brown but he has to create them with shots and offense.
