As the battery "canisters" breach, they pop or hiss or whistle and vent a LOT of flames.

The person who rented a tesla, built a homemade bomb and detonated it in front of Trump Towers in LV clearly agrees with you all. Congrats.

They have a fixed gear system that is not a traditional transmission.

There are EVs with just direct drive (axial flux) motors.

- Every EV has some form of a transmission, typically a single-speed gearbox or direct drive system.
- There’s no EV that skips a transmission entirely because a gear reduction system is essential to transfer motor power to the wheels efficiently.
In the context of the original posts regarding "transmissions", the point was that ICE vehicles have transmissions that require replacement, due to having to shift constantly.
EV "transmissions" do not have that feature, and will generally last the life of the vehicle, if properly maintained.
You need to check or flush transmission fluid on an ICE vehicle regularly (30k miles or so). Not at all true for the fixed gear ratios of an EV. The EV "transmission" is the equivalent of your rear differential gears, which are not (and have never been) referred to as "a transmission".
Those gear systems are effectively the same as your rear differential gears. Which are not a "transmission" in the sense a regular shifting transmission works.
For once, just admit you are wrong and move on.
