Going Amish might seem “extreme” to you now, but given your outlook, it won’t soon enough.
Just like every cell phone company currently does. People don’t care because they want the cell phone. When the options are a car that records me or I walk. I’ll probably choose the car just like the cell phone.
What’s really dumb about your argument is that it’s probably easier to live without the recording phone then it is the recording vehicle.
I don’t think everyone was aware that Tesla’s did this. They should be, so they can make an informed buying decision.
I'm not to worried about the other automakers adding continuous recording on the inside of the car. Now that it's come out that tesla is doing it, there's probably going to be some discussion around privacy. I think it's going to be a problem with them recording someone changing their kids clothes/diaper in the car. But for now I'm fine, I'll continue to drive my Honda and Toyota.

Exactly what do you do in your car that you do not want recorded?
You do realize many people actually put their own cameras in their car and intentionally record what happens.
But recording the audio is totally normal. Once again, a few years from now, this will be considered normal. Also why do you care so much about a vehicle you don’t own, recording what happens in said vehicle you don’t own.
Look at what people are willing to accept now. A car they purchased, recording them, and the footage can be used against them if necessary. I'd say it's unbelievable, but here are people on this site seemingly happy to have their life spied on by private companies and the authorities. Your privacy belongs to Elon now. He seems stable, I wouldn't worry.
I believe I've said it many times, if there's a recording that tesla (or any automaker) has access to, the police and lawyer will get access and use it against you. Also, I don't know about you but if you have a family there are times when kids are changing in the car or changing diapers. And if we want to discuss when I was in my 20's, there's definitely some things I did that I wouldn't want recorded.
If a person decides to put a camera in their car, that's their decision and they own the recording. Having an automaker do it and have access to it just doesn't seem right to me. I find it really odd that you're so ok with it.

I don't think it will be normal for recording video by an automaker. I don't want the automaker recording audio either.
I don't really care if people have a car that's being recorded, I've just said people are stupid for owning one. You yourself said you wouldn't like it either, but for some reason, I'm guessing because musk likes trump, you feel the need to defend video being recorded.
I think you have more of an issue with musk and trump beings you have brought the two of them together up multiple times now. As I mentioned earlier, I wouldn’t care if it was Biden that made the car with recording technology. If someone wants to have it in their vehicle, I couldn’t care any less. What I have mentioned that I find comical is that you say people are stupid for owning these vehicles for this reason yet it’s fine for you to own a cell phone that can track everything you do and say just the same. Is it stupid for planes to have a black box as well?
I don't have a problem with musk/trump for this topic, I have a problem with any automaker recording everything in the car. And yes I think people are stupid for allowing it to happen. Are you really going to compare this to the black box of an airplane? That is some weird ass thinking to relate the two topics. And again, my phone isn't recording video and I can choose to turn it off or not take it with me. If you want to be recorded in your car, I'm fine with you being recorded, I just think it's a stupid idea. Go for it, have fun, you don't need my approval and you'll never get my approval.
First, the decision to have the camera in your Tesla is your own decision.
Don’t buy that brand of car if you do not like it. It really is that simple.
Why is odd that I don’t have a problem with it? First I do not own a Tesla so it has zero impact on my life, second the video is not accessible remotely, thirdly, I just drive a car. Thousands of people see me do that every day in person, and god only knows how many cameras not in my car picks me up driving my car.
I would have no problem with a lawyer or cop having access to a video of me driving, why would I?
As I've said before, if you want a car from a automaker that is recording everything inside the car, then do it, that's your decision. I just think you have to be an idiot to be ok with it.
If you think it's ok for an automaker to record everything you do inside a car that you own, then good for you. I personally think someone has to be a idiot to allow that to happen.
