Fair catch inside the 10.

For years I thought conventional wisdom said this was a no-no, which makes sense to me. Now people do it all the time. When did that change? Is it at least CW to not do it inside the 5?

I have wondered the exact same thing.

It does make sense though outside of about the 5. I would much rather start a drive at the 8 than even risk starting at the 1.

Probably when teams started downing the ball inside the 10 more often. How many times has Iowa downed it inside the 10? I say quite a bit this year.

I don't think there has been a change of thinking. I think we are just seeing worse judgment.
