Fairleigh Dickinson's head coach is from Iowa....

You care, insane one. That's why you keep replying.

Yeah, your life is so awesome that you're currently bringing up supposed polls from the Off Topic board.

Dumb ass.
Dumb ass and insane one is all you’ve got? Original! You’re not worth my time, although it is hilarious how easily you get butt hurt.

I could care less what you call me. I have an awesome life,

You’re not worth my time

Yep, your life is clearly sooooooooooooo awesome.

And I clearly am worth your time, insane one, because you keep reading what I post and you keep replying.

Will you take EVEN MORE TIME by replying again? I think you are insane enough to do just that.

Dumb ass.

How dare you mention another coach … a guy who just beat a No. 1 seed. Franiacs will tell you ‘we’ve now been to the tourney FOUR years in a row …’ Or…. ‘careful what you wish for … remember Lick/Alford…’ Remember … we’re little ‘ol Iowa… We can’t possibly do better than Fran! Who else could come in here and win 51% of conference games and ZERO Sweet 16s… We don’t know how good we’ve got it! Just wait til next year!!! 😏
Your avatar made me read this in the voice of Clark Griswold and his Christmas vacation rant! Hallelujah!

They do but Iowa hasn’t had a lot of luck picking the right one.
That is true, and having Gary Ratface be the one to make the next pick is a big problem. But it is unreal what a high percentage of the fan base would rather stay with a guy who keeps us just good enough to not totally suck and has shown no hope to ever make a serious March run, than try to take a chance on a potential home-run hire. We have the 3rd or 4th best Div 1 coach in the State of Iowa FFS; Iowa fans are really happy with that? And just look at the list of schools that have made more noise in the Big Dance over the past 10 years compared to Iowa. It's embarrassing. I haven't looked it up, but I'm pretty sure that the list of coaches who reached the Sweet 16 after being unsuccessful for the first 25 years of their Div 1 coaching careers is a rather short one.

The easiest and safest thing to do is to do NOTHING at all.... Which is exactly what Barta will keep doing. Nothing will change until he decides to retire. A least I'm young enough that he should retire and maybe I'll get to see a new coach.

Hawkeye sports are VERY stale right now...(besides Women's Basketball and Baseball)

Think Fran is one of two coaches that have never been to the S16 since WWII and coached for more than 25 years. That’s our bball coach. Pathetic.

And more interestingly, who knew Kenny Banya from Seinfeld would become the FDU coach?!?! It’s gold, Jerry!! Gold!!

I thought we wanted Keno Davis. Or perhaps Ben Jacobsen. Is Stan Heath still available? Oh, look, it’s a new shiny thing. Must have!!!

I don’t care either way whether Fran stays or goes. Nothing will really change unless there are changes well above Fran’s pay grade.

How many times has Lehigh, Siena, and UNC Greensboro made the S16 with or without Fran. Go ahead and add those numbers up and get back with me. I’m DYING to hear the answer.

Hes had 13 years at a big10 school and a couple of all Americans at his disposal.

Let's be honest, Frans tournament coaching hasn't been very good at all.

Last 3 games have been really bad.

I’m not arguing that at all. His lack of tournament success here is quite evident and irritating. His tournament resume at Iowa SHOULD include a couple of S16 appearances. Rake him over the coals all day for that.

But lumping in his years at schools that have never made the S16 is intellectually dishonest. That’s all.

The defense last approach won't work in a tournament very often.

Players tend to come out tight in a single elimination tournament, especially the first game. (Playing 1st 4 is almost an advantage) you need to be able to ride defense to start games.

I don’t think defense was our problem in our loss to Alabama. During the season, yes.

Devries has recruited fairly well to Drake and his teams play defense.

Im not sold that FDU beating Purdue wasn't mostly Purdue choking.

Fdu wasn't a good team on the year they just got a perfect matchup against an over seeded team with a big weakness at guard.

Id sign up for either guy over Fran at this point, not because I know they'd do better but because I've lost all faith in Frans approach and something new needs to happen.

just pointing out the obvious that you had never heard of the FDU coach before tonight and now you want him as Iowa's next head coach???

JFC, overreact much?
I think the underlying point … is there ARE other coaches out there. Thirteen years of the same shit … Years 14, 16, 20 will be no different.

This is not “overreaction” after one loss. This is the same
repeatable ending for 13 years.

Speraw is a former head coach. I don’t think he’s a yes man.
He also isn't on the staff anymore. Unfortunately neither is there some one that Fran trusts enough to get him to take a HARD look at his formula for winning in the tourney. You can't just show up, and out score good teams, with all the games on the road, and using a crazy super ball.

How is stating a fact “intellectually dishonest?”

21 wins.
FDU’s head coach looks like an elf. 🙈
I'll take a coach who looks like an elf that took a team from 4 wins to 21 wins in his first season coaching, then beat an NCAA #1 seed and may be on his way to the Sweet 16, vs. an unhinged psycho who is literally one of the worst postseason coaches in Div 1 basketball history.

^^ hard to argue against that ^^
