Farniok commits to Nebraska

Congrats to Matt, and I hope he has a good career in Lincoln. Having said that, after watching his film I'm not necessarily heart broken.

Tough recruit to lose, but I think he was just a little bit more connected to Nebraska. Good luck to him, except when playing
against the Hawks!

I beg your pardon, I missed that. What's the deal with Heinrich? Iowa felt they had better on board?
He wanted an offer before attending a camp in IC.
The coaches told him he needed to come to the camp before they offered. He refused to attend. Iowa went in a different direction and recieved verbals from camp attendees-Banwart and Williams (previously verballed to WMU). Fwiw, Minny offered Williams this week.

This was an uphill battle for Iowa from day 1 and they damn near pulled it off. I don't worry about OLine at Iowa, someone else will emerge

Farniok's poor showing at a recent high school all star-related event had me questioning his quickness. South Dakota high school competition makes Farniok look better than he is.

It was my understanding that game was his first time playing guard, hence the slow reaction time. The kid was thinking and not reacting like he would at his normal tackle position.

Tough loss there guys. Im sure you'll land Jackson. But lets be real, saying hes no good, Io_a didnt want him anyways and all that crap? Your coach just visited him, he just did an offical visit to you guys and your staff has been after him how long? Im guessing your coach thinks a lot differently them some of you guys claiming you guys offered out of pitty....pretty sad Io_a fans.

Not surprised, he was a Nub lean. Iowa getting their butts kicked in regional big time OL prospects, though. Losing Heinrich to Arky and losing Raridon, and now Farniok, to Nebby.

Yikes.

Once again Goofer..Why do you spend so much time worrying about our recruiting down here at Iowa? Obsess much?
Worry about the state of your trending down program and leave the Hawks to us.... We will be more than fine down here and we have a history of coaching up players down here. Just how we roll. Once again though, thanks for your 2 cents worth.

That's ok, he was not that good and we did not really want him anyway. Sort of just a pity offer was what is was really. We felt bad for him. Glad he found a program more suitable for a player of his lower skill level.

That's one bonehead making those comments. I was hoping we could pull it off. I definitely see him as a guard. He is not quick enough for tackle but feel he will be one hell of a good guard prospect.

Yes we wanted him and came up short. Best of lick to Matt except when he plays the Hawks.

Hoping Jackson cancels his Nebby visit and becomes a Hawk.

I lived in South Dakota for awhile - and Sioux Falls might as well be Lincoln. You see Husker gear and flags everywhere. There's some Hawks don't get me wrong - but just a lot more attachment to the Bugs. Thats tough to overcome for a kid that grew up around it and is just a teenager. In the states that don't have major D1 programs (South Dakota - North Dakota) the kids/fans will attach themselves to the closest big time programs. Same thing with the Vikings - everyone in South Dakota is a Viking fan. And the Nebraska people are Chiefs fans. Iowa can take their pick between the Vikings, Chiefs,, Bears and the Pack.
It would have been nice to have him - Doyle could of chiseled him up.

Iowa took what 4-5 OL last year, so this year wasn't a big need. They offered some of the top players to see if they could get them and if they don't I doubt the coaches are losing sleep over it.

I am more conceded about our WR than any other position. Sorry but KF could take a walk-on QB and make him a Outland Trophy OL. That is one area, where iowa does not need to recruit the top level, because our OL coaches are the best in the nation and can put anyone out there and be successful.

WR is where we need help and we need it bad!

They didn't offer Heinrich, Raridon's dad played for Nebby and was born to play for Nebby, Farniok we lost out on though.......considering every starting offensive tackle for Iowa has played in the NFL since god knows when I am thinking we will be fine...

Pretty sure you lost your sarcasm meter, Nebby has a pretty good OL recruiting class coming in.....too bad they will be getting into their pass drops 50+ times and will be playing for a different head coach by the time they graduate

Raridon has been totally outplayed vs Dowling the last 3 years. Think he'll help them beat us,Wisky or anyone form the East?

This really only hurts if Iowa doesn't land Jackson. KF really needs an OT in this class. I like Jackson's frame for an OT more than I did Farniok's but Farniok was rated higher as a prospect so I guess we will see how it pans out.

Oh well, not really concerned. We have lots of young linemen waiting in the wings and with Kirks rep for developing guys I'm not too worried. He was a Nebraska kid from the start and thats ok. Would I have liked to sign him, yes but we will move on and get someone else to fill his shoes.

Fact if the matter is you aren't looking at fact as a recruit if you choose to go play oline at Nebraska over Iowa. Tells me he's not serious about pursuing football past the collegiate level, plain and simple. You start at tackle at Iowa, you play in the NFL, plain and simple. Riley is not gonna prepare olinemen for the next level. As far as you stupid husker fans, love how you idiots still run your mouths. Your program is an average big ten program trending down with Riley. Adding Farniok will do nothing to change that.

Nebraska has had nine Outland Trophy winners sense 1970. Six of those where offensive lineman. Give me a break.

If you need help with your spelling it's IOWA.
