Good job, Johnny. Hell of an accomplishment. 4 titles, 2 career losses. Hopefully a force at 65kg for years to come
Real needs to improve his TD game and learn to not get put on his back. This wasn't the first time this year he got put on his back but was able to get out of trouble previously.

And only got one stall for his efforts. What a damn joke this has become. I love wrestling. For the first time in a long time I’m glad the season has come to an end for 9 months. One gut punch after another.

One thing Alirez is good at is hanging on you in a front headlock to kill time the entire match. I knew after that hope and a prayer of a throw, he would really stall his ass off, and he didn’t disappoint

I'm haven't been this down about the future of this program for a while. We needed Real to win like we needed Cory Clark a few years ago. PSU will roll into next season with 2 champs favored to win, 2 runner ups who could easily be favored to win and 2 3rds. We have a runner up, a 4th and a 5th. In short we are way behind the Joneses and have a shit ton of work to do.
IMO this was one of the better final sessions from a wrestling standpoint.
Congrats to yianni on being a 4x, obviously an extremely challenging feat even for the best in our sport.
When was last time Iowa did not have a champion? Overall not a bad tournament minus a few check boxes (and obviously lee). Murin, brands and warner all really stepped up and should be commended. Best of luck to Spencer, warner and murin (and any senior i forgot) in whatever they do next.

I normally like listening to gibbons and he is usually complimentary to it the Iowa program and wrestlers, but he was really obnoxious during the review in Wood’s match. Could he not see that woods’ back had reset outside of 45 deg? Angel gave him a 2 count and a 1 count. That’s why there was a delay before the third count. I also don’t love Angel but Gibbons kept blatantly attacking his technique which seems like a low blow. Hard to listen to.
With Gilman there now, you can cross off the Japs too.

Yea.......you're right. We weren't paying attention. After we finished banging our heads on the brick wall we started posting on the "Fire Brands" threads we so dearly love. Guess we missed a couple things not listening closely to their post-match victory speeches. Shame on us.
No kidding. The review taking so long gave Gibbons 5+ minutes to go on blabbing about it. It was exhausting.

There are some Cardale "ain't come to play school" Jones vibes to this kid. And I love it.
Rivera's technique is objectively awful. I don't know that you guys understand exactly how ref selection works, but there tends to be a lot of "good old boy" networking going on for post-season selection.
