Flo Nationals

things we learned

Jm is really frickin tough and goes hard
He needs to get better on bottom
He is small and looks to be a career 125.

Thank for all the support this weekend I totally agree I don't like the 5 lbs allowance because of the reason that kids go down a weigh if u look at Justin 2 appearance in flow his 3 losses came from kids that had dropped a weight class we knew that coming in but Justin didn't want to cut down a weight class if he did he would have beat that timmins Kids Justin has beaten him before and 2 times did make finals to wrestle Justin u all know if it was at 120lbs different story

No doubt, Jaysdad. That 5-pound allowance with night-before weigh-ins makes for some very lopsided match-ups in terms of size. We saw the kind of effect a size disparity can have last year when Daton Fix beat Spencer Lee.

I commend Justin for taking on the tougher match-up despite giving up a lot of size. Still a great run in a very tough tournament!

I think offering a weight allowance is fine, but for a tournament like this or NHSCA nationals you should only be allowed to enter in the weight you competed your state's post season at.

Yes I will stand by by comment about Meija being the favorite. I am PSU wrestling fan and did not see that coming. The CA kid looked whooped after wrestling 3 matches in one day after traveling.

OK, fair enough. Guess I was focused on the term "heavy favorite" that was used. I expected a close match so not all that surprised that Courtney won, though did not foresee a MD.

Wow, tough crowd.

Wrong. What you were focused on was thinking some Hawkeye fan had posted that Mejia was a "heavy favorite", when it turned out it was one of your own you suddenly found some clarity. Shocker.

looks like some considerable shine just got removed from a guy (JM) this board was convinced was a freshman AA. He was beaten in all 3 areas. Maybe its a lesson to all on hanging college medals around HS juniors necks
JM will be a freshman AA if the coaches need him to go. Feel free to go back to the Penn State board.

Justin is very athletic and strong with a good motor. Perfect material for TnT. I could see him having an Iowa career similar to Gilman or Ramos.

.

Something else was hopefully learned, BrucePSU....

A single poster calling a guy a "heavy favorite" in a HS match as a HS jr, is not the same as "this board is convinced he will be a fr AA."

CA has produced plenty of lighter weight talent - Novachkov, Delgado, and Garrett in recent years. Mejia is young and no one knows what will happen in college, but we do know he has heart and talent.

Get him working with the best lightweight coaches in the country in TnT and I think he has a very bright future.

Justin is one tough little son of a gun he will be just fine. I know he will keep on working hard to learn to be better on bottom and all areas.
Now the real important thing is to go and get that 4x state champship then head to Iowa City and be welcome with open arms. Also TnT, Ramos ,Mcdongouh, and Dennis to sharpen up with. This Hawk fan wish it was this year. Best of everything next year Justin.

Actually, I probably make the same comment regardless since, as noted, I expected a close match. But you think whatever you want. o_O

FYI., Mark Hall just beat Austin Bell 8-4 at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic (Dapper Dan). Bell took Hall down. Would have liked to have seen Young vs Hall.

I think you should leave. You have plenty of talent to discuss on your own board. No need for you here as far as I am concerned.

I like the mentality of the wrestler that chooses the harder path. Can't wait until he is in black and gold and making PSU bleed.

Now have a nice day.
Wow! Thought some would like to know the result. Hard to believe a tough, hard nosed team like the Hawkeyes has such a sensitive fan base. I don't know whether to feel bad or laugh.

After reading BWI for the past month, I'm in total awe of the amount of comments from here that make their way over there. Also, I've never seen the word "fun" used so much. They have plenty to talk about yet ridicule HR's thoughts, current and past Hawks as well as future Hawks.

Well I was originally responding to BruceK, but you will do just fine. Saw the Mark Hall match, so I already knew that one. Sensitive, not so much, just not a fan of trolls. I do find it surprising that you are over here talking about it. I just would think the PSU board would have multiple conversations going on about it. It was nice to see him down for a few minutes and not getting the first takedown.

Didn't know I needed to check with you first on what information folks here may or may not need. I deeply apologize for my ignorance. Also wasn't aware I shouldn't be discussing things with Hawkeyes fans. Another one that went right over my head. I'm a white man... Should I not be talking to black folk either? I live in PA, when I go on vacation do I ignore all the locals there as well? When I dial an 800 number... Should I speak? Christ, these boards are getting so damn hard to figure out. I guess it's a young mans game...

I guess your definition of troll differs from mine. I just want to discuss wrestling with other wrestling fans, and to be honest, it's nice to discuss the sport with fans who might have a different perspective. It enriches us all. As long as everyone is being respectful (and I know some aren't), why wouldn't you want opposing fans to hopefully add to the quality of your board?

Don't wish them a good day. You were right on the money until the last part ;). Just ignore those idiots, you're better off.

that's why you are not wanted, you are ok tell someone says something you don't like, then you are just like the rest of them
Some of you need to look in the mirror and yes... I'm speaking directly at you. You people here are fine until a PSU fan says something you disagree with and you immediately lable them a troll. That's just fact. I witnessed that firsthand this week. I had no problems here until I shared some opinions about what folks outside of the Iowa fan base might believe and you and quite a few others went ballistic. Pull up the threads. Read those threads and tell me that didn't happen.
