Florida peepz, are you evacuating? Or staying?

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are pretty tits. Expensive but tits

I have this (likely abnormal) amount of disdain for manufactured fun. I hate anything even on the spectrum of an amusement park. I want to go up to every employee and ask them behind that fake smile and enthusiasm - is this really the happiest place on earth? Be honest and tell me what you think of your asshole boss and that backstabbing Kathy that plays Snow White.

I'm right there with you.

I'm the exact opposite. In fact I'm the asshole who buys Fast Pass so I can skip the poors in line. My kids are getting older and can ride all the rides, so that's how we plan our vacations. Amusement and/or Waterparks. We did 3 days of Universal in 2022. Loved it

It’s for kids. Very few adults enjoy being there.

Considering the derecho phenomenon, I wouldn’t consider Iowa a safe out with climate change. Maybe PA or Michigan are the best options for natural disasters?

Family south of Fort Myers. They've put up the hurricane barriers on their windows. They're planning on staying. They have a generator in case they lose power.
That’s where my Mom and her friends’ summer place was. Ballsy to stay now. She cashed out after Ian.

More power to you. Somebody has to buy their tickets and pay the bills.

Live in Venice. “Evacuating” out of a flood zone to friends house in Sarasota. Work in the public sector so have to be here for emergency work before, during and after.

I hope it goes smoothly. My friend in St. Pete had a hard time getting gas.

I’m not a fan of Disney parks, but some of my family’s greatest moments and fondest memories have come during amusement park trips. I guess we never considered it “manufactured fun.” I’d be interested to know what your family does for “non-manufactured fun” where everyone who is serving you loves their jobs.

If you've watched anything NBC, ESPN, etc you're on the tab too. Mine was more fun.
Disney is a huge fvcking monopoly. It’s almost impossible to not be “on the tab” as you so eloquently stated. I’m with @Hawki97, fvck Disney world/land. I’m proud to say my kids have never been there and my wife pushed hard for it when we visited America’s wang.

Mostly outdoor, get away from it all vacations. The majority of the “service” is my grumpy ass making breakfast at the cracko or hauling weight around. I certainly may look like I don’t love the job all the time but I secretly love the pain.

Sounds wonderful.....

Not sure if serious? People shouldn't be proud of taking their kids on vacation?
Definitely serious. In the same vain, shouldn’t I be proud of taking my kids on vacation, but focusing more on natural attractions as opposed to man made attractions?

Good friends in Estero about 15 miles from the coast. They put everything from the outside in their lanai and put some storm shutters up.
They’ve got a generator, stocked supplies and ready to go.

I mean, if I had 3 days notice of a Derecho or Tornado, family, safes, and business documents would be up and out of town.
Yeah, Derechos just kind of sneak up on you, usually when you least expect them. Very little warning. At least tornado forecasters can give you a few days' notice of their possibility.

Sure but maybe say that rather than just being a "we didn't go and F my kids and wife" proud boy? Everyone has a different idea of vacation, like you just said. I hated fishing as a kid, but loved amusement parks. Different strokes.

Sometimes as a father and husband you have to protect your family from themselves. You can be proud of being a superficial dad and husband all you want. My kids have been to over 20 National Parks so far and I’m very proud of that. Like you said, to each their own.

Protect your family from amusement parks? Show me where Six Flags touched you.

That could be one of the dumbest f'ing posts I've read on this board. A board full of Trump supporters. Bravo!

Like I said, f it for those that want to stay. That is fine. I just don't want to hear them bitching later on.
