Florida people, tell me if this anti woke stuff is for real.

This is the same stuff DeSantis' former students said he tried to teach them back before he was fired from that high school. They've been quoted saying he taught that the war was really about "competing economic models" that slaves "benefited from." He's a real old-school, southern man pos.
He's really making me lose respect for the value of a degree from Yale and Harvard.

Think of all of the people who met the love of their life in the Holocaust, yet people dwell on the million+ innocent children murdered.

Or all the useful skills the survivors must have picked up while being slave labor...

Iowa and Florida unite. Kind of cool our 2 states are some of the worst in the country at this point. The marriage was meant to be..
I hope this was tongue in cheek. Iowa definitely has gone slummin the last decade but the history of the states isn't even comparable

Did some people learn trade skills while they were slaves that they used and benefitted then after slavery……..yes

Did black people benefit from the act of being slaves………no
You are exactly spot on and if people in this thread actually read the standards and not relied on the leftist guy who dressed up as the grim reaper during Covid or Keith Olbermann for their news then maybe they could see this.

I agree with everyone in this thread that the content being talked should not be in the standards. But don’t distort the truth and say that the standards promote slavery or that RDS is “pro slavery.” That is as bad as the arguments made by the left on the “don’t say gay” law which was completely made up by the media and the Twitter left.

It’s strange when I have to be the voice of sanity. This board is pretty comical at times

This is also the same group of people(to be fair not all leftists)who were blaming Nebraska’s abortion law for a girl burying a baby’s remains after using abortion pills at 29 weeks instead of you know blaming the person who committed the heinous crime.

And this is what most people are saying. Why is it being proposed as being in the standards?
It should not be in the proposed standards. I agree. But the standards are not pro slavery or glorify slavery as the Twitter Left or Team Blue is indicating in this thread.

Also the standards were not created by RDS as many are indicating in this tread but by mostly African American educators in the state of Florida.

There is not point in teaching this and it is a valid argument. But the left has taken the argument further than that as indicated by this thread.

Well, I mean when you do dumb shit like teach this, then you leave yourself open for interpretation. Like why even teach it in the first place.

Agreed.
Why is the left expanding this further in saying that the standards don’t teach the horrors of slavery? Or that DeSantis is pro-slavery? That is complete garbage.

I literally just told you and you even agreed.

Then you ask the same question again. Are you on drugs?

Why would you teach about slavery in Brazil in an African American studies program? Other than to diminish slavery in the United States.

Why would you teach about the Barbary pirates enslaving white people in an African American studies program?

Why would you teach about slavery in Asia in an African American studies program? Or the caste system?

So it’s wrong to teach about the harsh conditions that their ancestors went through in other countries. Remember we are teaching history here and is there any evidence at all that they did not teach about the horrible slave issue in the United Stares?
