In our following the future update, we take a look each week during the season at how Iowa's commits are doing on the field, including our performance of the week. Join us throughout the season as we watch their progress and get ready for the future of Hawkeye football.

Performance of the week

As he has done just about every week this season, running back Toren Young put up big numbers again on Friday night. Playing in the second round of the playoffs, he finished with 34 carries for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns, but saw his senior season come to an end after a 34-28 loss to Mount Horeb.

The leading rusher in the state of Wisconsin, Young finishes his senior year with 304 carries for 2,569 yards and 28 touchdowns. As a three year starter at Monona Grove, he had 4,985 yards rushing and 54 touchdowns in his high school career.

Other notable performances

Barrington Wade finished with 24 carries for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns as his Niles North team won their first playoff game since 1992 with a 39-14 victory over Whitney Young on Friday. Through 10 games, Wade now has 194 carries for 1,755 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson had 4 catches for 114 yards on Wednesday, but his Chariton team saw their season come to an end after a 49-7 loss to Gilbert in the first round of the playoffs. For the year, Hockenson finishes with 85 catches for 1,228 yards and 17 touchdowns in 10 games this season.

Kristian Welch had 13 tackles on defense and finished with 55 yards rushing and a 60 yard touchdown catch on offense, but Iola-Scandinavia saw their season come to an end after a 28-21 loss to St. Mary's Springs in the second round of the playoffs on Friday.

Emmanuel Rugamba had 7 catches for 88 yards in Naperville Central's 14-7 win over Bolingbrook in the first round of the playoffs in Class 8A in Illinois. Through 10 games, Rugamba has 50 catches for 727 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

Quarterback Nathan Stanley did not have to throw the ball much in Menomonie's easy 49-8 playoff win over De Pere on Friday, but was perfect when he did, finishing 3/3 passing for 32 yards in the game. Through 11 games, Stanley has completed 78 of 149 pass attempts (52.3%) for 1,506 yards with 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season.

Lance Billings had 5 carries for 69 yards and 1 touchdown and 2 catches for 11 yards in Clearview's 66-30 win over Brooklyn on Friday. In 10 games, Billings finished with 67 catches for 721 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

Cedrick Lattimore and Chauncey Golston each had 2 tackles as East English Village beat Warren De La Salle 24-21 in a district semifinal playoff game on Friday.

Defensive end Brandon Simon had 7 tackles including a key sack late in the game for Don Bosco as they beat rival Bergen Catholic by a score of 24-19 on Saturday.

Devonte Young had a 46 yard rushing touchdown, a 33 yard passing touchdown, and fumble return for a touchdown in North Point's 36-10 win over Huntington on Friday.

Offensive lineman Spencer Williams helped pave the way for Cedar Falls running back Jordan DeGroote to rush for 143 yards on Wednesday, but saw his senior season come to an end after a 28-21 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington in the first round of the playoffs.

Class of 2017 commit Juan Harris helped pave the way upfront as North Fayette Valley racked up over 400 yards rushing in their 49-14 playoff win over Western Dubuque on Wednesday. On defense, Harris has 30 tackles, 9.5 TFL, and 3 sacks this season.

Class of 2017 defensive end commit Coy Kirkpatrick had 1 tackle in Madrid's 58-6 playoff win over Des Moines Christian on Wednesday. Through 10 games, Kirkpatrick has 39 tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks this season.

Wide receiver Frank Darby had a big game with 7 catches for 133 yards and converted a pair of two-point conversions in Lincoln's 22-17 win over Hudson Catholic on Saturday. Through 8 games, Darby now has 28 catches for 738 yards and 9 touchdowns this season.

Final season stats

Running back Toren Young finished the season with 304 carries for 2,569 yards and 28 touchdowns for Monona Grove (9-2) this year.

Safety Amani Hooker finished the season with 78 tackles and 11 interceptions on defense. On offense, he had 1,042 yards passing, 478 yards rushing, and 380 yards receiving, accounting for a total of 29 touchdowns for Park Center (8-3) this year.

Running back Toks Akinribade finished the season with 226 carries for 1,424 yards and 16 touchdowns for Brownsburg (4-6) this year.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson finished the season with 85 catches for 1,228 yards and 17 touchdowns for Chariton (5-5) this year.

Tight end Noah Fant finished the season with 46 catches for 570 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense to go along with 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks on defense for Omaha South (3-6) this year.

Lance Billings finished the season with 67 catches for 721 yards and 5 touchdowns for Clearview (4-6) this year.

Offensive lineman Spencer Williams led the way upfront as the Cedar Falls (6-4) offense finished the season with over 1,700 yards rushing this year.

Defensive end Austin Schulte had 9 tackles and 1 TFL in his season opener for Pella (10-0), but tore his ACL late in the game and missed the rest of the year after undergoing knee surgery in September.

Defensive end Romeo McKnight tore his ACL during pre-season practice for Crystal Lake Central (4-5) and missed all of his senior year after undergoing knee surgery in September.
