Prohm came in when Nader and Long were Seniors, Thomas and Monte were established Juniors. I don't know how anyone could feel Prohm made them good players, or even developed them. Thomas got better his last two years, but I'm still not sold that wasn't just him maturing as a player.
Morris PER his soph year, was 21.4. He went to 20.4 as a Junior then 24.7 as a Senior. Morris was good before Prohm ever got there.
Nader went from 12.2 to 15.8. His biggest improvement was after leaving ISU it seemed, and not under Prohm.

Nader's numbers jumped significantly his one year under Prohm. His shooting percentages and metrics grew a lot the one year under Prohm and got him drafted.

Thomas was a train wreck under Hoiberg, he was hardly an established player. His sophomore year, he didnt start a game and only averaged 15 MPG.

He did get better his Senior year, but Prohm was hired 3 months before that Senior year. Do you honestly believe he made Nader into that player? I don't, but again, it's just my opinion.

Possibly, who knows. I know most on this board wouldn’t give Fran credit if that were the case.

That's because it's less than 3 hours away from Ames. The bars and restaurants are full of Cyclone fans and it's basically a drunken family reunion - where everyone is telling each other how great they are (see Nebraska fan)

But as far as importance - it isn't. The Big 12 Champion of the season is - and the NCAA tourney is.

I agree with you 100%. I'll say either small tourney - any of the thanksgiving tournies or the Big 12 tourney are a much better event to attend live than an NCAA tourney. Went to Maui last year for the Maui invite too - just fun, you're around fans from a lot of big schools, and it's a ball.

Also for the record the Big 12 itself calls the tourney champ "Big 12 champions". I disagree with it but it's not like ISU fan are conjuring that from thin air.

And let's make sure we point out the remarkable job Fran's done this year. Let me also give credit to TopHawkeye who posted this in the lounge which needs to be pointed out....

"And when you think we lost our starting PF to the "draft", our starting SG to Kansas, our second string PF to injury, our third-string PF to illness, and our starting PG had hip surgery, hasn't practiced all season, and is probably shutting it down for the rest of the year, it's kind of incredible. Fran and the staff have done a great job getting this team ready. "

This team is really good and how Fran and his staff are getting it done, is really remarkable. And the future with Joe T, PMac, Ulis, Perkins, Josh O, and the Marble twins is very exciting.
Can we wait until after the big ten season before we give Fran coach of the year and another extension?

Because that is regular season titles. They call them champions. They also call the tourney winner champions. Two champs each year. I could be wrong but if so they really need to get a new apparel provider.

Alford referred to Iowa as Big Ten Champions one year, Cyclone fans became triggered by it.
