Good. Now let's keep Tyler in the fold, have a great season and land X. Foster along with some other stud recruits and take this program to an even higher level.
Maybe Barta's being honest, but it is just so weird that a private plane flew from Fayetteville to Iowa City, Minneapolis, and Reno on Tuesday. 3 people rumored for the job live in those 3 places. That ain't no coincidence.
So a plane that traveled to (Nevada) Eric Musselman and California (Alford) also traveled to Iowa City for no reason. Just a coincidence.
Got it.

Damn runway was so busy it took them over three hours to get back in the air after taking on the fuel.
So the article is really Barta's way of telling Fran he needs to come clean with him
Weiskamp was a top 50 kids, and Patrick is a top 75 player. Just because you have an opinion, doesn't mean you are correct.I like your enthusiasm, but Fran has been here 9+ years? How often has he been able to land Stud recruits? Cook? Yes. The rest don't qualify as Stud recruits, IMO.
But I hope he can land them. I'm thrilled that I'm on the edge of my seat again during the games. There was a stretch where that wasn't the case.

Perfectly stated hawkjt.......we have a very strong core of experienced players returning from a 23 win season...we have a couple of good recruits coming in (that we don't have to depend on for much of anything) and we have a couple of major recruiting classes that need to be filled that requires relationship building over time.
IF we hire a new coach we will have lost our backup PG and there is at least a reasonable chance that we would lose our east coast 3rd string PG who has not yet set foot on campus.....maybe another player or two. Then this experienced team has to learn a new system from top to bottom....going into a very difficult/challenging non conference schedule and then a brutal 20 game B10 schedule....new coaching staff would have to start a relationship up with Xavier Foster and would be way behind ISU and others in doing that.
Clearly it's best that Fran stays....I think hawkjt's post is right on the money and the only "negative" (in a sense) twist that I would put on this whole thing is about the recruiting.
This staff HAS to land a good strong recruiting class for 2020...has to. I want Xavier Foster as a part of that in a big way, but we could still have a good recruiting class without him....but it has to be good if we are going to trend upward.
They probably had a quick meeting with Fran’s agent, heard what they had to say, discussed money quickly, passed along to Fran and then moved on
I hear what you're saying, but Woodbury was also a Top 50 recruit. Stud?

Why fly to Iowa City to meet with Fran's agent? no idea who his agent is but i can guarantee you the dude isn't based in Iowa City.

I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the situation,
Refueling?
Yeah, he was. What happened to the defense when he left? You don't have to score 15-18ppg to be a stud.

Thank you for making me spit out this sad Keurig coffee. I needed the laugh and HROT never disappointsMaybe they wanted to talk to Fran's two young dynamic assistants Speraw and Dillard?

Top 50 kids don't get ranked that high on their defense. If all you have to cling to is a player's defense to classify him in the "stud" category then that in it of itself shows he was not deserving of the ranking coming out of high school.
this made me LOL out loud. hahahahaMaybe they wanted to talk to Fran's two young dynamic assistants Speraw and Dillard?
I like the part of the article that says Fran has to notify Gary of inquiries or talks about other jobs and by not doing so Iowa can terminate for cause. That would avoid a buyout all together. So if I read this right as long as Fran coaches through next year the buyout that had everyone so worked up over becomes pretty meaningless.
