Fran Packing It In?

Is this an Iowa thing?

This has widely been reported, it's not some super secret thing. They bought Nate Kaeding's old house.
That house was up for sale in Feb, so it's possible. That spot would be quite a bit better than North Liberty imo. It's in town but feels like it's out in the country. I almost bought a house on that street some years ago. Paul Engel (founder of the Iowa Writers Workshop) lived on that street as well, fyi.

No real estate records for Fran in Johnson County since 2020. Nate appears to have bought the house from Todd in 2010...

That’s not true. I found his house pretty easily.

Fran and Margaret sold two houses. They owned one west of campus that the kids lived in, and the one in North Liberty. It isn't very hard to sell any house in IC right now, but the house they moved into is in a valued neighborhood. As long as there is a university and a hospital in IC they'll be able to sell that house quite easily assuming they ever leave. My personal belief is that Fran doesn't coach after Iowa, and I don't think he plans on coaching past 65 or so. He simply doesn't seem like a guy who wants to die coaching. He's smart, and has money. I can see him and Margaret joining a board or two in semi retirement. I can see one or both remaining visible in cancer research tied to UIHC. A lot of their family vacations are on a lake in Northern Minnesota, so they aren't likely to retire to Florida and golf away the days. None of the kids is going to produce grandkids soon (Hopefully), so that won't be a draw for them to move someplace.
