Almost a whole wrestling team of top 30 recruits. All except for Teske have been top 10 P4P at one point in their high school career. It would be hard to bring in a class of ten guys of mixed top tens to UR'd much less a class like this.

I don't know about cheating but those are a whole lot of "data points." My guess is that Cael has his bases covered. One thing to think of is this: Flo brought this up a week after they secured the B1G contract which means they are going on more than just rumors. They went from being just another webcast provider to the ESPN of college wrestling. I'm thinking this contract gives them the clout for whatever blowback hits them.

That's quite a list of 2018 recruits. Plus five returning national champs, plus McCutcheon, plus the older Nevills and perhaps a few dollars for Cortez and a couple of others. Maybe PSU is making it all work legitimately on 9.9 scholarships. Maybe some of the athletes are academically gifted and are getting enormous academic scholarships, fair and square. I don't know. But if there were improprieties, it would be relatively easy to smoke out if the NCAA or some other authority with jurisdiction wished to investigate. All it takes is subpoena power to compel the production of documents and some examinations under oath. Give the matter to a young whippersnapper investigator/lawyer and let him or her have some fun. The other possible way impropriety at PSU could be unearthed is if a PSU wrestler becomes disgruntled, leaves the program, and decides to spill the beans as payback. With 10 top level recruits this year, many of whom are going to sit on the bench for significant portions of their career, some are sure to leave on less than happy terms. The facts will eventually come out, good or bad, but I suspect we will have to wait a couple of years to get the full story.

The NLWC is not paying the athlete so they can pay back student loans. They are paying them to train at their club and represent them in competition.
No, they do not have to wrestle for the club to get their school paid for. nlwc is just the money tree.

It’s not always incoming freshmen, some upperclassmen make a “sacrifice” and don’t take much scholarship money with the assurance that they will be repaid by their club. It’s nearly impossible to police this as these are very good wrestlers who would be on the senior circuit anyways and they are just getting more than they normally would.

Finally watched the segment, and I'll just say kudos to CP and Willie for at least turning the rock over and letting some light shine in. I have no idea how this all plays out, but as one of them said, "where there's smoke, there is fire." The financing of these elite d1 wrestlers likely involves creative finances, unethical practices and possibly illegal stuff.

Hopefully more information and names get publicized. There HAS to be a level playing field with regards to recruiting. Winning a team title shouldn't belong to those with deepest pockets, who simply buy the best wrestlers, without regards to rules.

This is going to be so much fun to watch happen. Really my only question is going to be weather or not the PSU fans learned anything of their blind support of their football coaches in the child molestation scandal. That backfired and blew up in most of their faces. Now will they be willing to take a truthful look in the mirror and actually be willing to consider the fact that maybe Cael isn't the Saint that everyone thought Paterno and Sandusky were?

EVERYONE thinks something fishy is going on there and some people KNOW it. I posted on here 7 months ago roughly about something that I knew was happening there and was destroyed by PSU fans for not having proof that it was a violation even after I said it was a technically NOT a violation because of the way the rules were written currently. However, Oklahoma State lost a year because of something very similar not too long ago. That was benefits/assistance given to wrestlers during their redshirt/greyshirt seasons in order to make competing at opens easier. Oklahoma State got hit for providing a ride in a school van to wrestlers during their redshirt season. Meanwhile, Manville was being flown to compete places and entry fees paid by the RTC (which again is not against the rules as they are written currently for a greyshirt like he was). That is just a tiny tiny tip of the iceberg I am sure. I can't wait to see PSU fans when the other shoe finally drops.

Those are 2 separate classes. A few are already in school and competing; the rest are seniors in high school

I said awhile back the heat was coming for Carl. You know this has legs when Flo actually prints it. This is the same company that bent over backwards to protect Carl and his roid raging freak after their temper tantrums this summer. Carl is squirming. He still has about 2 years before the FBI gets him so Flo and the NCAA will have to suffice.

I am torn on the subject of paying college athletes. I could see where they should get paid but you would see numerous programs go belly up or down to DII or DIII programs. Let's look at wrestling for obvious reasons. Penn State is doing it now while it's a loop hole they are still doing it period. Then there is fosu and do u honestly think they are getting top kids because Tom Ryan is so awesome. Now add the new team on the block Michigan is all the sudden starting to get some pretty big names. Now let's look at programs like Edinboro, Rider, and Cornell who are all respectable but NO WAY IN HELL could they compete with the with the money the schools that I have listed. Iowa can not even compete with the money those schools when it comes to the amount those schools bring in for just football it's not comparable.

If they want to get paid money then go pro. If they want to get paid in discounted or free education then go to college.

Cornell with a huge slush fund, for paying off all loans after graduation, could compete. A free degree from Cornell is a valuable asset and Koll is a very good coach.
