47 FTs for Iowa vs 19 for IU. 22 fouls called on Iowa vs 35 on IU.

That's a brutal game, especially when you throw in 17 TO's for Iowa and 22 for IU.

#Winning ugly

To be fair, we made a concerted effort to attack the rim in the 2nd half, and played "ole" defense at times.

They also gave us like 6 more free throws under 20 seconds in OT down like 9.

It was a disparity, but final numbers were skewed.

yep, I think IU had three fouls in the first 70 seconds of the second half and we were in the bonus after five or six minutes in the 2nd half. I'm not sure the refs had much choice, IU weren't very disciplined on defense and did a lot of reaching, bumping, etc. Brutal game with all the whistles, but will take it after the start we had. Had a really bad feeling after Thomas sank that deep three in OT, but the young team finally found a way to win in overtime.

Didn't Iowa get called for the first 5 or 6 fouls of the game, then the tide changed, and it was mostly fouls on Indiana being called?

Indiana's first foul was around 10 minutes into the game. We had 6 on us by that point. They ended up at about a foul per minute the rest of the game including OT. Maybe not all, but most of those were legit calls. That doesn't take into account the missed double-dribble, missed travel on a breakaway, and missed foul on Cook's last play in regulation.

All three teams on the floor had rough games last night.

I thought the Refs mostly made correct calls, even on the non-call on Cook at the end of regulation and the hold by Jones after his turnover.

The missed carry call on Indiana was one of 3 or 4 missed calls, but most of the fouls were legit imo. A lot of picking fouls, but they looked fair and it is a point of emphasis. Jok did draw one blocking foul that looked wrong on replay, but they were in his grill with the ball and you have to expect that to some extent.

There were two pretty badly missed double dribble calls on Indiana, and they called a ton of touch fouls a long way from the basket. Iowa was in the bonus with what, 15:50 left in the second half?

Game definitely lacked any flow. All those fouls and turnovers, plus a couple of clock operator errors and couple of replays really slowed things down. Even had Fran's best friend in a stripped shirt stop the game to warn Fran and send him back to the coaches box in the first half. I think the 2nd half started with 8 fouls plus couple of turnovers in the first 3 minutes alone.

Seemed like the first 10 minutes of the game they were letting Indiana grab and reach then called it well the rest of the way out (foul wise). Obvs there were some missed non-foul calls though

8:47 mark of the first half.
Tyler Cook shooting foul.

IU didn't get a foul called in them until about the 8 min mark of the first half. We really let the refs hear about it.

Once Pete figured out that he could draw fouls because IU defenders were always reaching, he did a great job of going to the well. This and the fact that IU guards stopped driving after doing it at will for the first 10 minutes, are good examples of why Tan Tommie is a lousy game coach.
