The hawkeyes are proving all the whiners wrong and doing it in a hurry. WE have had a great season and can't no one say diferent. So much for the fire ferentz nancies. Beathard is doing a pretty good job I will admit. I'm not too happy we dont have proper insurance behind him, but he has stayed healthy so far. I'm betting that some of you guys, you know who you are, are a bit testy because the ol ball coach is here to stay!!!

A look at next year.

qb- C.J. Beathard, 6ft 2 in, 220lb, Sr.
rb- Daniels 6ft, 225lb Sr. along with Wadley 5ft 8in, 190lb, Jr., Mitchell 6ft 210lb Jr.
Wr-J. Smith, 6ft 2in, 185lbs, SO
WR-M. Vandenberg, 6 ft 2in, 195lbs, Jr.
TE-G. Kittle, 6ft 4 in, 235 lbs, Sr
OT-Myers, 6ft 5in, 300lbs, JR, Croston 6ft 5in, 295 JR
OG-Welsh, 6ft 3in, 288 JR, Feretnz, 6ft 2 inch 278 JR
C-Simmons, 6ft 2 in, 295 SR

That's a hell of a good lineup right there. despite the naysayers the ol' ball coach has turned the ship around and here is your foundation. Don't forget the new qb's Cook and Boyle, both of them mobile and talented.

On defense this is what we have. coming back

DE, Hesse 6ft 3in 240 RS SO, once he get some more doyle treatment look out
DE, Nelson 6ft 8 in 2709 RS SO, this guy has the frame to cause troubles against opponents, future is bright
DT, Johnson, 6ft 4in, 310lbs SR, love jaleel here, good old fashioned smash mouth player, so much for davis and LTP leaving being a weakness. Developmental program remember?
DT, Bazata 6ft 2in, 284 JR, another underated player for the hawks

Heres where it gets real good

LB J. Jewell, 6ft 2in, 236 SO, this guys is playing on sundays someday
LB Ben Niemann, 6ft 3in, 225lbs, JR, another jewell from a school that can't recruit
LB Bower, 6ft 1in, 228 JR, and dont' forget Hockaday, 6ft 1in, 215lbs, SO, go look at his high school highlight reel, this one will be special for sure

on the secondary we have this

CB-Mabin, 6ft 2in, 200lb JR, a protoypical defensive back who's still learning and will be better next year
CB King, 5ft 11in, 200lb SR, the best of the KF era IMO, and hopefully he comes back to us
SS Taylor, 6ft, 195lbs, JR, he's been underrated this year, heckuva good player we have in him
SS Gair or Snyder, both about the same size 6ft1-2, 210lbs, typical blue collar KF players, one of which will takeover from Lomax, another NFL prospect from iowa

What we have here is a bright future for this team, lots of you guys said this woudl never happen with kf, and surprise surprise, you were DEAD wrong. we can be B1G champs and even more, once we take down the Nub-braska.

How much crow did people on here eat before they couldnt stomach anymore?

you guys arent' easy to please are you? If I put the stars, I get crap, if I don't put stars I get crap.

Youre free to post or add to the discussion if you feel it isn't up to your level of expectation.

It's a helluva good lineup because Iowa is 11-0. The depth chart hasn't changed since the 5 wins, fire the coach, offseason screaming.

not all of thought the depth chart needed to change. The complainers complain, that's what they do. We had a whole team of nobodies last year, thats what everyone said. No ones saying that now are they?

I am one that deserves a serving of crow as I predicted a 6-6 record and would have been fine if KF had resigned or been released. Glad to be wrong. Ironically what did the people that wanted a change complain about? CJ should be QB, Weisman is a great kid but a fullback not a tailback, need to take more chances and not sit in 4-3 defense the entire game without blitzing. The only thing that still worries me is the defense the last couple of games and playing all three linebackers at the end of games when we know they have to pass.

And Kilroy as much as I missed your posts, in about a week I will be ready for you to go away again.

I also wonder how the punting & kicking will go. I don't know anything if at all about those positions.

Got a really solid squad coming back next year.

I think we might see Bower add weight and go DE but that is a guess. We are stacked at LB with Hockaday and Mends to go along with Jewell and Neimann.

James Daniels going to go to Center next year from what I hear.

when did you hear about daniels moving to center? I havent heard anything of that sort.

Daniels to Center has been the plan all along from what i remember. As a matter of fact, in a recent article Blythe spoke of taking Daniels under his wing like James Ferentz did for Blythe.

I heard this story before in 1996, 2004, and 2009 - subsequently 1997, 2005, and 2010 were my most disappointing seasons as a Hawkeye fan. I am just going to enjoy this one and have no expectations for next year.

Here it is
we lose both punter and kicker next year
Ellis, K, 5ft 10in, 180lb, out of allen TX, 2 stars
rastetter, P, 6ft 2in, 205lbs out of IA, NR

I dont' know much about these guys, maybe someone else does

Actually he is right, I remember hearing that during the game he filled in at guard. The announcers made a big deal out of him playing guard but then went on to say he would eventually end up at center.

Simmons was honored on Senior day...

Other players that have gained experience this year include Ekakitie (DT), Wiegers (QB), Outsey (TE), Kulick (FB), Falconer (WR - special teams), Fleming (CB), Jackson (CB)...

Not so sure I'd even pencil Ferentz in, but to each their own.

Not getting too invested in next season right now. Enjoying this ride!!

why woudl they know anything about it? doesn't make sense at all to me, i can't find a thing about it. he's too big and athletic to play center.

When everyone is getting along for the most part this fall, why does anyone need to jab people about what they thought in the past ? Quit trying to stir the pot !! Otherwise be prepared to deal with it when Iowa gets beat when they shouldn't have.
Why was it necessary to list their height and weight ? Think most won't change by next fall ?
Also, Daniels was recruited as a Center and wasn't used their this year because of Blythe and Simmons, 2 upperclassmen. We'll need James at Center this spring.

Funny all the things you listed are things Kilroy defended last year. I'm still not convinced this is Kilroy here or just a pretender.

"Beathard is doing a pretty good job I will admit." A pretty good job huh? Come on Kill, grab a shred of respect back for yourself and just admit you were wrong about Beathard.

Just man up and say you were wrong......its ok it won't kill you.

Only Kilroy would start a thread telling people that they need to eat crow and then refuse to admit that he was wrong!

My biggest concern would be leadership and team chemistry. If CJ stays healthy, there's always that worry with a mobile QB, the offense should do well. I think with Ott gone from the defense it took a little bit of a dip. Hoping Iowa's DL can find the next Ott to make the pass rush more effective.

Ferentz's teams always seem to do better when little is expected of them. Next yr. they will probably be ranked in the pre-season rankings. Hoping they can live up to expectations and not fall flat.

One thing that I do like is the combination of Davis and B Ferentz running the offense, it could be another good scoring yr.

Because it is important. The naysayers saw this EXACT SAME TEAM as garbage, but now they want to beat chests about how good they should be next year.

The point isn't about their complaining, it is about their delusional posting. I said all along that the idiots would be the first back in, demanding playoffs or bust.

What I am trying to point out (as are others) enjoy the game, enjoy the season, your predictions have proven to be useless, all you are doing by propagandizing next season is setting yourself and the other idiots for more ignorant outrage.

The avatar, the use of commas, and quoting messages give it away... However it's still a pretty solid fake Kilroy
It all makes sense now. Someone just started a thread saying "where did kilroy go?" and now all of a sudden kilroy appears. Definitely fake.

It's possible and I'll admit that I created that thread to draw him out. Whoever is doing it though is pretty good at impersonation. I will say it is much more fun having Kilroy of any sort back on the board. Now if we could just get Matt Foley to come back also, and tell us how superior he is at talking football.

Fun to be had everywhere these days.

O- line: OT: Ike, Boone
OG: Welsh, Crofton?, rshirts?
C: Daniels
As usual we will try to start our best 5.

We will have some good freshmam DE's and if anyone can put pressure on a QB I wouldn't rule them out.

A couple of potential play makers may be getting ready to flash too. Mends, Outsey, Scheel, etc.

Should be fun, but I think we'll see more additions then most expect. A couple of threads ago I thought special teams and pass rush would be the key and not much has changed.

Yep this is where we have a big unknown. The kicking game already won a game this year and the punt team hasn't caused any issues, unlike the past.
