I think changes will occur, but it will take more than 48 hours to take place. Even at my level (HS), the depth chart won't change on Monday after the previous Friday, except for any injuries that may have occurred. I'm sure coaching staff discussed depth chart during Sunday's meetings, and possibly began to implement any changes, during this morning's practice. They'll make some changes for tomorrow, then probably the last changes on Wed and Thurs. Friday will be light/no contact, so no changes will be made to the depth chart.

The most meaningful depth chart will be the one of game day.

I'm not making these comments because I have specific knowledge in this particular case, I'm just making general comments about how change may come about in a football program, based on my experience.

Don't forget who the HC is, no changes will be made unless someone gets hurt.

I would be suprised if there are changes. Its just not his style. He believes in his guys and his system. Not saying it never happens, just that its not his style.

If what happened last Saturday starts happening again at LT this Saturday, KF really doesn't have a choice than to change things up whether it be personnel, scheme, or play calling.

If anyone is expecting changes, they are very ignorant. Ferentz is a loyalist and it foesnt matter win or lose, things stay the same. How Bower is still starting is just laughable at this point. We need to get more athletic on defense but KF and Parker must think they have the best guys out there. Unfortunately, many of us think otherwise. Just keep that same vanilla offense and defense from the 80s and 90s - seems to be working well.....

If you've followed Iowa football under KF, you would expect just what was presented.

He has a choice, it's called a lifetime contract. Win or lose.

If I am Beathard and it starts happening again - I call timeout, go to the sidelines grab a cheerleader and replace Croston with them.

CJ needs to get better at feeling the pressure as well. He has been a statue back there. During the MNF game last night, they showed the LT get beat, slowly, much like Iowa's LT did last week 4 times. Bradford felt the pressure, took a few steps to the right, and got rid of the ball without taking a sack. Within about 30 seconds I received multiple texts basically saying 'I hope CJ watched that.'

A pro vs a senior in college. Why was beathard so good last year? He's holding it a bit longer than he should believing his receivers will get open and they don't. Need to roll him out more and\or take snaps under center with a drop back.

Yep several of the sacks are on him

I've been pounding the table for more play action since Greg Davis took over. Iowa has had multiple 2nd and shorts in good field position where a PA pass could result exactly in a big play. The long pass to Smith last week is a perfect example. Instead GD calls a simple run for 4 yards to pick up the first down. Need to take some shots to loosen up these defenses a little bit. Maybe if there was a threat of getting beat deep defenses wouldn't play press coverage that has been suffocating Iowa's WRs.

The only problem with that is there is no where for CJ to step. It isn't just a Croston problem. The pocket is collapsing on him from everywhere. Sorry.

You re the coach. Who do you put in game in place of Bower? In place of Croston? In place of Snyder??

Let us know what your grand scheme is instead of just griping .

NW's pass rush gap integrity was perfect giving CJ nowhere to go? Interesting.

We've seen enough of Bower to know he probably isn't the answer. Jones, Mends, or Hockaday have to have a higher ceiling at this point.

Croston would probably make a fine guard like Boone has but I don't think he is athletic enough for T. I don't know what the answer is. Ward is his backup but the former 4 star recruit really hasn't played much outside of the jumbo package.

Snyder will be fine. We knew he was going to take his lumps this season much like Taylor did last season.

yeah it seems like it is either a run or they set up in shotgun and almost always pass it out of shotgun so teams just blitz.

Anyone - they can't do any worse... let the backup prove himself, bet you get more energy out of them. Making mistakes at 100mph is acceptable, making them again and again at anything less is not.

For the life of me I will never understand why they don't sub more on the dline. I think every team they play does it by Iowa.

It's pretty easy to keep gap integrity when you're having your way with an opposing Oline.

Mends for Bower
Paulsen for Croston
Gair or Hooker for Snyder

That was easy.

move Josey in for Bower put Hockaday at MLB.
I agree with Gair or Hooker for Snyder
LT anybody else beside Croston.
Please put somebody else in at FB Beside Kulick he is Horrible!! Put Kelly or Manders in tired of watching him block nobody or fall on his face. What a big drop in the FB position this year it hurts the running game besides the OL.

It is amazing some of the really bad ideas people have posted in the last few days. Jewell is one of the best MLBs in the nation. Bower, Mends, and Hockaday all worked at WLB during camp. Don't move your best linebacker to a position he hasn't worked at since his freshman year. I've also seen move King to safety posted here. Why do you take the best corner in the nation and switch positions?

So you're saying you would always throw a PA pass on 2nd and short? Wouldn't take long for your opposing coaches to crack that tendency.

That being said, I wholeheartedly agree. This team looks built for a classic KOK offense. Not saying we would be dominant, but I'd love to see more rush attempts, play action, and crossing patterns. Not to mention Kittle leaking into the secondary.

I'm just saying 2nd-short shouldn't automatically mean play action.

I'm just saying 2nd-short shouldn't automatically mean play action.

Right now if CJ lines up under center on 2nd and short, defenses are stacking the box because it's automatically a run. Throwing in a few play actions would keep them honest making it easier to convert first downs when you do run the ball on 2nd and short and make the offense more explosive at the same time. Lord knows we could use a little excitement on offense right now.

Whatever they do with passing, the ball needs to get out of CJ's hand quickly. The game plan should assume the continued matador play of 3/5 of the O-line. Unless there are two much better tackles they've been saving for the mid point of the season, the way to get the passing game going is through new formations, quicker routes, a moving QB. Since CJ seems to have lost that mobility from last year they are down to quicker, shorter routes and showing multiple different looks to try to confuse the opposing D.
