I think this should be combined in the "Huge Tournaments" thread to make it easier on my fellow posters and me.

Seems like Lee is getting his body fully ready to wrestle 125 in college next year RS or not. The cut to 120 is probably easier for him then Teasdale, but Gavin has an additional year to put on more weight.

This possible?

17-18
25 Lee TF
33 Laux Sr/Happel RS FR
41 Turk SO/Happel RS FR
49 BS SR

18-19
25 Teasdale TF, *Lee RS
33 Murin RS FR
41 Happel SO
49 Turk JR

19-20
25 Lee SO
33 Murin SO, *Teasdale RS
41 Happel JR
49 Turk SR

20-21
25 Lee JR
33 Teasdale SO
41 Murin JR
49 Happel SR

I love figuring out future lineups!

Personally I would lie to know what Laux can do a 125, but if the team is right there in the title hunt i would want Lee a 125.

Also I thought Murin said he wanted to be a 141/149

stickley, wagner and rathbun all could figure in there
This is true

I would also and if Lee RS then I believe this is what you see. I would like to see Happel go 33 next year, but after that he will be 41. If Murin can beat out Happel or Turk for the 41/49 spot then more power to him. I think 33 is best for Murin til Teasdale is a full 33. What I like is we have a lot of good options, hopefully it will be the same at all weights in the near future.

do we even know that happel can make it down to 133? if he is able to then why isn't he down there now getting ready for next year when clark graduates. by him being at 141 now I don't see that happening but I could be wrong.

I feel like I remember it wasn't even easy for Hap to get to 138 for Fargo. That's day before weigh in so he might not be a very effective 133.

I have no clue if Happel can make it to 33. He was at his most dominate time when he wrestled 132. Iowa doesn't have there guys cut a lot of weight during there RS year. No point putting him through the cut if he won't start. McKee looked much larger then Happel at Fargo when they wrestled and he is at 33 this year for Minny. If he can and would do it I would think it would just be for next year only. The starting spot is just sitting there for him and there is no guarantee he will beat Turk out next year for 41. Also Gross is down to 33 after 2 years at 41. I think he also wrestled 38/45 his senior season and 38 at Fargo.

It would take a ton of work for Happel to make 33. He had a really tough cut to make 138 this summer.

Stickley, Rathbun and Wagner-One would think that their best shot at ever making the lineup would be next year with Lee redshirting and seniors graduating.

So do I.

I have no inside information. And I never like to pencil a guy in the lineup who injured until he's back, so with that said, I'm waiting on Clark this year until I see him go.

And

IF Clark cannot return and IF Clark can get a 6th year, then 17-18 looks different.

17-18
25 Laux Sr
33 Clark Sr.
41 Turk SO/Happel RS FR
49 BS SR

They could but let's hope they are in the lineup because they have made significant improvement and not just because they are the "best option we have."
Whats wrong with going with the best option? Don't we always do that? Maybe they are in the lineup because of injury or whatever. You still always go with the best option.

Because the idea is to have wrestlers who finish high at nationals at basically every weight.

But isn't Gilman also the best option we have? I understand your point, but shouldn't we always wrestle the best guy at that weight? Just a weird statement to make against these kids.

You're not following. He's not only the best option we have he's also good.

The point was let's hope they are in there because they are point scorers and not because of injuries or because someone else flopped. Unless, of course you think we should be putting guys in the lineup who lose to 4th place finishers from the Minnesota HS state tourney last year.
