Get David Taylor on staff!!

Ok. Good point.
It's the college recruiting I was meaning to refer to as questionable, your club is not. PSU's club has really solid backing from wealthy donors, and like you mentioned, I wish the HWC could get someone like that as well. Your guy's post college infrastructure is probably the envy of all college programs right now.
You got a gem of a gift with Yonomitsu. I have no doubt that guy has helped your lower middle weight college and senior level guys. I just wish we could bring in someone like that here to give our guys some international feel.
In the Spencer Lee doc, Spencer does allude to the idea that Brands might bring in some Euroepean guys in the future for him to roll with...
Not to derail the thread, but what is the 3-5 year plan for the HWC? How full or empty are the shelves these days talent-wise? As we all know, changing directions and/or building momentum in a club takes time to accomplish. Starts with money, but requires leadership and vision from Tom as well. Do you guys have all that?

I expect the lightweights to be Clark, Gman, Dennis. I don't know how long Dennis will compete.
McD working with lightweights and up to 157.
Middleweights are the Dardanes twins Forgot Mike Evans for 165-184
Brooks, Burak, and Telford for the upperweights.

I like that our coaches were willing to go outside the program for the Dardanes. We could use another middle weight stud. I don't have good enough sources to know if they have eyes on any particular club guy. Or if there is enough money to bring more in.

I had heard earlier that we were after Ian Miller, but he was too dinged up to compete post college.
Is Evans planning on competing at 86 anytime soon? He'd be perfect for 80kg if they ever make that a weight.

It would be nice to make one of our current coaches the"exclusive" HWC coach to make room on the staff for someone like DT. I love the mentality of our coaches but I would also love to see them be able to bring in a new young guy with a different approach and funky style. I think guys like kem, young, happel etc would really flourish with someone like that in the room to match the toughness we already have

You should try being a Hawkeye fan instead of a Brands fan. Brands could have brought in better talent, or done a better job of developing our current talent.
I just wanted to take a moment to welcome you to the board. I see you joined a couple of days ago and have been a breath of fresh air.

How do even know if DT can/could coach? Iowa has been out manned not out coached the last 6-7 years.
I agree Iowa has not been out coached at all, if anything I think they often get more out of average recruits than other top programs. I can't wait until the new generation of kids get into the room and on the mat I think Iowa will be competing for titles again in the next few years. However Imo I think a coach that had a footloose and fancy free philosophy would be good for the Hawks it wouldn't have to necessarily be DT but I would like a coach of that type\style. Problem is I don't want to see any of our current staff booted out

I saw this posted on a forum today - FWIW

"Did anyone just see Mark Hall walk by David Taylor after winning the title? No greeting, no high 5, nothing. Like they don't know each other. Kinda odd, huh?"
