Gilman opens up about Iowa

Gilman has been the same dude ever since he came to Iowa. When he's on your team you bite your tongue when you hear his words and watch his antics cuz he's a great wrestler. When he's not on your side you get annoyed.
That's why being Tom Brands is a really hard job. We're all whining about winning championships and when he has talented, tough, productive guys like Gilman who don't always play nice with others, we start whining about that, too.

I guess we have different definitions of tough. Cory Clark was tough, Gilman bordered on childish. JMO

It is funny how people on here think Gilman is an a hole but then think the Brands Tom specifically are wonderful
100% Tom is a grade A Asshole when he's in competitive mode and mat-side.
But when you remove him from that atmosphere he's one of the best, if not the best, ambassador in the sport.

There's levels to this and Gilman is no where near his.

Some can switch the neanderthal gene off - and some can't.

I don’t think the Brands are wonderful either. I love how people just say anything to lump everyone together. I will say when the Brands were wrestling they didn’t need to run into opponents huddles because they were tough when and where it counted, on the mat.

I was a fan of TG from his early years youth wrestling all the way until his offensive, disgusting, swear filled speech in Waverly for Fight Night. He insulted every person in the building and the ones watching online. Since then, I am no longer a fan.

The best part for me is that he doesn't understand what went wrong other than leaving for a rival school and throwing shade at Iowa....that is what went wrong, genius. And then said it wasn't personal it was just showmanship. Using showmanship as an excuse to throw shade at the guys that you admittedly credited for working with you as a young kid and being role models that you looked up to forever. Throwing shade at people PUBLICLY that mentored you and cared for you takes time to get over, if it ever does.

Gilman said he offered an olive branch, and it wasn't accepted. Exactly! You can't punch someone in the face and then simply apologize. You deserve to get hit back harder, and Iowa is not wrong by landing a harder, returning blow. You can tell he regrets his decision and is acting by saying that IOWA can go shove it. That's why he never reached his true potential; he is always in his own head.

Why doesn't he use that same showmanship to bash Cael now, after all, Cael is not his role model and someone he looked up to.

From Iowa, to PSU, to OKST...it seems like he has the commitment problem. I think he ran from Spencer and is now running from Lillendahl. :)
