Give Cael an offer he can't refuse.

Why would Cael want to come here? He gets a lot of $upport at PSU and is in the best H.S. state for wrestling. Any offer we give, they can match. Love these threads.

Someone always out matches another...my point.

Don't want to be a dick...with your handle, probably a basketball fan so it's not as simple as salary. Cael has made PSU into the new Iowa and the state of PA for wrestling is like recruiting basketball in L.A. and Chicago all rolled into one. They have a better funded regional training center that has brought in some heavy hitters for freestyle wrestling. Plus, he has the next two titles wrapped up. Cael doesn't need Iowa...he has built it in PA. Going to be up to somebody to knock him off in 2020.

Partly correct. :)
Carl's?

He can be knocked off with more money.

and you're not a dick don't worry.

as of 2015, Iowa's endowments totaled $1.2B. PSU's total doubled that, mainly due to the large alumni base.

Yes I am more bb and fb

Just saying Iowa should take pride in what they do best and pay for it.
Ok, I was more basketball and baseball for my HS and college years. never watched a wrestling match until 1975. Maybe this will help. Do you think Saben or Izzo would come to Iowa..or coach K? Anything we could pay those schools could match and it isn't always all about the money. It's also about winning.

Would Gable ever leave Iowa for PSU?

I'd never root for Iowa again if they hired Bael. Good lord that's about as atrocious decision as they could make, second only to cutting the sport.

Not to be a dick, but how? You only have 9.9 scholarships to give, and his are fully funded at out of state rates. Beyond that, they built Cael a state of the art wrestling and S&C room, have put money into the RTC, and have the complete support of the admin and rich donors to keep it that way.

Sorry, but I don't see much daylight in there for 'more money'. PSU will be knocked off with a coach who has a better message and better partners in the room. It will happen eventually.

Penn State in wrestling is Kentucky in hoops- the cool place to be. Go there to play early and compete

Not sure hoops comparison for Iowa. With that being said, I pass on Cael. Guy is a DB.

And the wrestling support for PS doesn't go through their endowment. Plus you are wrong on Iowa's endowment through the foundation here.
http://www.uifoundation.org/annual-report/2015/financial-overview/

At the end of fiscal year 2015 (June 30, 2015), the UI Foundation and university endowments exceeded a combined total of $1.2 billion. The investment return on the UI Foundation’s endowment portfolio was 2.1 percent for fiscal year 2015. The rate of return for the three-, five-, and 10-year periods ending June 30, 2015, was 10 percent, 10.7 percent, and 6 percent, respectively.

Google was my friend. :)

As for PSU wrestling, you are correct. Ira Lubert is the name among many of us smaller supporters.

You are a year old and there have been two major fund raising campaigns...but probably no way you could pull that up online unless you went into the UI foundation site.

Google may not always be up to date.

Even if it was about money, or throwing a pile of money at Cael, it wouldn't work.

Google PSUHockey & Terry Pegula.

Then google PSU wrestling & Ira Lubert.

Lubert cut the checks to get Cael in State College once Cael showed interest.

If Cael needs a few extra bucks for his assistants or the facilities, Uncle Ira is just a phone call away.
