Glad to beat Pissconsin, BUT

Yes, those big moments with ten minutes left in the first half with the team up by 11 when he was taken out of the game for good. He clearly sucks and he shows how much he sucks in those three minutes he gets every game. He should be kicked off the team.
Dumb.

That point in the 2nd half with garza and weezy on the bench was brutal. Think we were up 15 and that lead quickly evaporated. Like you said they invited keegan to drive and he was really the only off the bounce threat out there. Would have been a great chance to put joe in and move jbo to the 2.

I would love to see JBo play more 2. Have Connor run the point on offense.

I'm bothered by Fran's lack of timeout usage and I'm even more bothered by not having a real point guard. Iowa is lucky Wisconsin is such a bad offensive team.

Yes, I'm going to enjoy the win, but figured a win is a good time for constructive criticism.

But for real, though, this shit is like if Alford was to play Brody Boyd at point 30 + minutes.
Your lack of understanding of what is good pg play is astounding.

if by connor you mean joeT then yes lol
The lineup id like to see is
Garza, keegan, joew, jbo, joeT
But im not sure that combo has ever even been on the floor together 🤔
With a healthy cj you could even go small and slide him to the 3, weezy to the 4 (esp when he’s rebounding the way he’s been!) jbo 2 joet 1
Id love to see high ball screens by garza with that 2nd small ball lineup, pick an pop all the other guys spread wide. Thats really a pick your poison, of course joeT would be tasked with making the right decisions. I expect to see a lot of that next yr tho with him starting and nunge screening

Yeah, and? Not sure i would give jbo a lot of credit for the win. Played 35min didn’t score until there was 2min left, had 5 assist vs i think 3 to’s and a few rb’s...not great production. And everybody talking about joe’s 1 bad decision (which it was, no argument) jbo made the exact same poor decision, except his was a one foot off balance airball.
Look ive said b4 im not calling for jbo to be benched, I just see no reason the min distribution shouldn’t be more like 26-28jbo 12-14 joet. When we play teams with super athletic pg’s we’re going to need more min’s out of joe on the defensive end.
Obviously we all just want the team to be successful...IMO, to have the finish to the season we are all wanting, we’re going to need more min’s from joet.

Following are Jordan’s statistics for last night’s game per ESPN:

Minutes - 35
Points - 6
Rebounds - 3
Steals - 1
Fouls - 2
Assists - 5
Turnovers - 0

You may not want to give Jordan credit for the win, but I will. He helped lead an offense that won in Wisconsin by 15 points. I would have liked to have seen him shoot better, but he also helped keep Trice from going off. I do agree that I would like to see Joe T play more. I do not believe that we need to denigrate one player to talk up another though.

I don't necessarily disagree, but based on the starting five, I would rather Connor run the point than JBo.

I will give JBo credit for the improved effort on defense. Like I said before, if he's willing to defend, I'm less against him logging 30 + minutes.

Idk if i would call it denigrating, i just don’t think jbo played well enough to get the 35min he had last night and rly most nights for that matter. Jbo is definitely instrumental in our success, he is lethal from 3 and keeps teams honest because of it. But long term this year, i feel it would be beneficial to get joeT some extra min’s now, because come tourney time we will need him. What is one thing we ALWAYS see come march madness? Some damn good quick guards from smaller schools going off and upsetting higher seeds. Happens every year. That is when we will need joe and if he keeps getting the minutes he is, who knows how he will perform.

The Badgers are ranked in the top 10 by Ken Pom for defensive efficiency; probably the best defensive team the Hawks have played this year. Seems like they managed to eke out a win without a real point guard....

Yep, having two excellent offensive players that can get their own points helps allot as does playing a team that made 8 two point baskets in 40 minutes.

Wisconsin is a joke offensively.

Still giving opponents way too many second chances. I hated seeing Wisky getting like five straight cracks at hitting a 3.

If Wisky could hit the broad side of a barn, it would have been a lot closer, and maybe even an L.
Hmmm, do you think that Iowa has every had the same thing in a game where if they had ONLY shot better they'd have won? You know if we'd scored more points then the other team, we'd never lose kind of thing? Sometimes it just happens. Also this is now three straight games where Iowa has held their opponent to under 70 points and a decent defensive field goal %. Maybe that has something to do with it as well. Not to mention that basically Iowa and Wisconsin came into the game tied in the standings with a lot on the line, AND they were at home. Both teams in the top five in the nation in fewest turnovers per game. Just sayin, a good win, and I'll take that on the road, any day, any year.......

I do agree that I would like to see Jordan get a little more rest and Joe T play more. I am encouraged by the man to man defense that we have seen the last three games as Iowa has held the opponents below 70 points in all three. This is a good recipe for success for this team. It sounds like Fran challenged the team to play man to man and they have responded.

I hear you and share the same concerns. It just seems like this discussion devolves into criticism of one player to prop up another. Ultimately, we are all Iowa fans and want the team to succeed. Jordan gets a fair amount of abuse from some fans on this site, but has also had a tremendous career at Iowa.

I was glad to see Joe engaged at the end of the game last night. He is roommates and good friends with Patrick, so I would hope that Joe knows why he is playing the low minutes that he is and understands what he needs to do to play more. As you mention, I can see the Hawks needing him in the tournament along with Tony and Ahron.

Connor is 6'5 and plays like he's 6'2 at the 4 but anything is possible when you are the coach's kid I guess

Connor has done a decent job of holding his own at the 4 the last couple years - hardly a lockdown defender, but he's not getting abused either. In different times it wouldn't work, but it's a different era where the 4 is not your traditional interior player for the most part. When Iowa has run into that, we've also seen Nunge on the floor with Garza more often as well.

They didn't have athletic PG's last night, and we matched up well and won by double digits. All of Trice's baskets came when others were guarding him. I"m not sure what else to say. When the time comes, I think Fran will play Joe more, but now isn't the time for that argument. Also, instead of thinking you remember what happened, go actually check the box score. Bohannon had zero turnover's. There is a lot more to bball than scoring. Taking care of the ball, has alot to do with us ranking as the best team in the country offensively.

We’ve seen over and over frans refusal to put jbo on the bench. Against far more athletic pg’s that make him look silly on d, and smother him on o to where he can’t get a shot off. Now is most certainly the time to have the argument! Would you rather wait until we lose to talk about it?! We’ve won the last 3 games by dbl digits and were in control most of those games, yet fran still refused to get joe any minutes after half. Like i have repeated numerous times, we will need joe’s athleticism to get to where we want to go this season!

You must be a riot on BINGO night.

No, we don't.

So what you are saying is it's not Fran's fault for winning or JBo but when they lose and they will, along with every other team in the nation except for one, then it will be both their faults. No discussion about any of the other players on team, just JBO?? Your logic would be we need to get our back up center in 8 to 10 min. per game so he can be ready when we need him no matter what the score is..All these guys will get their turns if they hang around for five years. See all team sports....Not everyone is a Spencer Lee...

No my logic is, most teams have quick athletic guards. History has proven iowa has problems with that type of guard. We have a super quick great defensive guard on our team, so wouldn’t it make sense to put him out there to defend? Idk, have you ever watched march madness? typically guard play is what wins games! Thats why I keep saying for iowa to accomplish what they want they’re going to need joeT to play and it would benefit him to get minutes now to be ready.

This is exactly right. There are certain things Joe T can provide you that JBo can't and vice versa. Iowa is going to need both come March. I would really like to see Joe T get more minutes and start building a little confidence.
