Gobblin sightings?

Who? Gobblin? Seems like a good dude and well intentioned but it became blatantly obvious he does not have the inside scoop on Iowa wrestling. Not for many years anyway.

All that said, I’d love to have him back.
Ahhhh the old Spooner dig with tones of reverse psychology and a pinch of compassion. Well played showing your softer side in conclusion.

Gobblin’s sources are close to the program and very credible. The only one he missed on and took heat for was Bouzakis. He called Chittum coming on board and let it be known how he felt about losing him. Gobblin shared far more pertinent information about the program than he had to and it will be missed.

The majority of board is off topic crap and then gets hijacked by trolls during the season.

It will be nice to see him at a dual this year

I've met Gobblin and he is a good dude. I enjoyed his posts and since have't really found anyone here that has replaced his insight. Tigerguy promotes it, but I honestly haven't followed him enough to say yay, or nay. So far he seems like more smoke and mirrors more than insight. Meaning he elludes to a lot, but doesn't seem to point blank say much. Gobblin used to at least point blank say. To be transparent I did think and stated that I thought he threw $hit against the wall sometimes. Who knows if that was recruits changing directions, good sources with bad information, or what. I think the majority of posters with true insight fall in to the habit of posting their insight, so us geeks get caught up between their "gut" & their "knowledge."

Not to steal Gobblin's thunder, but another guy a have wondered about is 23sofar. Sounded like he was an older fellow from Minnesota. He was always a straight shooter and a big Hawk fan. I harrassed him about changing his handle after we won #24 and he said he didn't want to mess with it. Hope he is well or just moved to the other forum, but I don't see him doing that?!

I think his account got blocked for arguing politics or something to that affect. He wrote something on the off topic board and some guy was filling him around and asking him to be banned. It seemed petty to me. But then again I have no idea what he said.

Either way we’ve lost a number of good posters the past few years but there are still people that know what they’re talking about and people that are knowledgeable wrestling fans. Off the top of my head I can think of 5-6 people here who’s opinions I trust. Most people that know something don’t say it. That’s just the way it is.

We have at least 1 "new" poster who just has to be a past poster reincarnated.

like 96 said , i he think jumps the gun from time to time, but that's for our benefit. i don't think the guy really cares what most people think of him. alot of recruits are probably making 2 or 3 programs think they are the favorite up until time to sign. i know gobs was pretty sure nicky pushups was coming and i would bet the coaches thought so too right until he wasn't.

This. For the good, some on here are correct about Gobblin and couple of you are way off. He is fine and doing well. He hunts with my brother and his Dad is a LONG time friend of mind and he is still VERY WELL connected I assure you. Great family!

Rumor is he got himself a buck today so he's doing just fine.
He got himself a dandy buck. He also does have some really good sources. Some have obviously been wrong. Sometimes they were right at the time but things changed for whatever reason. That happened this off season. This board is better off with guys like him, WDMhawkeye, sloehawk posting. I don't like posting, but enjoy reading when it isn't politics or trolls posting. I hope he starts posting some again. He's a damn nice, genuine, and unselfish guy. And it's stupid for some posters to hate on him when he shares something that turns out to be wrong. Most of those same posters next good contribution to this board or program will be their first.

In honor of Gobblin and opening day I will share a couple things I've heard. We should have a few more guys than usual at the open next weekend. AJ was recently in the room again for a few days. He isn't rusty to say the least. He's freaking good. I was told his brother has made 149 also. I don't have any insight on eligibility for anyone. Caliendo and Franek are fitting right in and doing great.

Lenny Zalesky and his beautiful wife (no pics) stopped in the Cal Baptist room yesterday to say high to Terry and the team. They're an awesome couple. It sounds like Stoll and Turk are helping coach at a local high school near them. They still love Iowa wrestling. She's hoping to start an alumni game watch group in Montana because there are so many Iowa alumni out there. Any Montana folks on here should reach out to her.

This is an exciting year with all the new faces, youth, and gambling uncertainty. I also think it's great that Iowa goes to some of these smaller schools. A couple of kids being recruited by Cal came over to get pictures with Terry. Having Iowa in town is a big deal for the wrestling community. It does make a difference for the sport. I know we all want to watch them wrestle the best teams, but the Big Ten is loaded with plenty of challenges. Wrestling some smaller programs is great.

Maybe if we all make a Hawkeye pact to not discuss anything but wrestling on this board these guys would reconsider.

I for one will no longer participate in any conversation other than wrestling.

Okay maybe just Food, fishing and hunting!!! But thats it!
Okay maybe beverages also but thats it!

What say you?
I say if AJ ends up wrestling for us, and you bring a Ferrari, my son, Gobblin, and I are riding with you. We will use my parking pass to park in front of the Gable statue.

Spencer Lee will medically forfeit. Check comment 162. “I was told Spencer and his family aren’t in Oklahoma” lol he def had the inside scoop 😂

I could be wrong, but I don't think Gobblin left because of non wrestling talk.
There were some on here that were pretty much asses to him if any information he provided was not 100% spot on or if it didn't end up panning out. Part of the reason I can be hesitant on posting information I have. Sometimes things change or not go the way it was intended to. Then the people with pitchforks come out.
Interesting. I never posted much on here but I found him to be kind of antagonistic. You would post an opinion on something and he would refute it, but do so in a way that was just to prove he had "inside information" but then wouldn't tell you why it was wrong. "Oh, I can't tell you."

I enjoyed his passion for the Hawks and he was closer to the program than I’ll ever be.

I’m flattered gentlemen and jerkoffs…. Truth is once Tom and I truly got on a first name basis and started talking/texting it felt icky and pointless to share any info at all, no matter who it came from, as I would never dare break any trust that has been earned there.

Stoked about the season being here as it should be an exiting year with all the uncertainty and new faces in the lineup. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of you fellas in Carver. Now to fill this farm tag on another SE Iowa timber donkey.

Hope everyone is doing well, even you jerkoffs. GO HAWKS!

We have a couple silent commits…. No clue on time table of when they will make it official publicly, but it should make some around here eat their words about the current state of our recruiting.

How’s that for slinging shit against a wall?!?
