You are extremely naive.Because driving is a necessity in this country. Guns are not. We have grocery stores, we have a military to protect us. We also have a government that is strong enough to easily take you if they want, so there is no need for guns.
It's more complicated than that, as the post by theiacowtipper hints at. Even if the NRA's interpretation of the Constitution were historically accurate, enough people are stupidly crazy about guns to make changing the Constitution difficult. One of the downsides of democracy is that it allows people do stupid things so long as they're popular.
So if something is a necessity it is personable responsibility but if it is not then ban it.Because driving is a necessity in this country. Guns are not. We HAVE evolved far enough as a society to deem guns unnecessary. THAT is the big difference all gun fans miss and makes their arguments nonsensical.
My gun has been sitting on my counter for a week. (I planned to clean it but just haven't got around to it) At least 10 people have walked by it. NO ONE DIED!! Isn't that amazing?
Your car sits in your driveway every day. I'm sure a number of people have walked or driven by it. Has it ever killed anyone? Does that prevent us from requiring education, testing, and certification of people who desire to drive one? Does it prevent us from placing limitations on what it means to be "street-legal"? Does it prevent us from requiring that your car be registered and that every sale of that car be recorded?
Says YOU. Don't you find it strange that millions of people disagree with your stance?
around 1 in 20 people now own concealed carry permits. that is a very significant % of people that see things differently than you.
You do not know best for others despite what you liberal whack jobs think.
Is there anything in the Constitution that says the right to own and drive a car shall not be infringed?

Do you think that the 2nd amendment prevents any regulation as to the access to arms? Should any person be allowed to bear arms without restriction? If you say yes, you believe in a changing dynamic constitutional interpretation that has no historical precedent.
"Shall not be infringed" is pretty cut and dried.
Sorry, they are designed specifically to destroy whatever is put in front of them.No. Guns are designed as a deterrent.
.
you gun owners are setting yourself up to have guns banned outright.
People don't trust gun owners and I hate to say it to you but the country is more in favor of NO guns.
Is there anything that says the right to speak freely shall not be abridged? Can we place limits on speech.
Agreed. Too bad "regulated" isn't. Or "militia" for that matter. You may not like it but the 2nd is far from clear."Shall not be infringed" is pretty cut and dried.
Guns are used as a deterrent thousands and thousands of times per year. I know it sounds worse and you think it proves your point when you say that but guns are used exponentially more times for preventing crimes without ever being fired than they are ever actually fired.Sorry, they are designed specifically to destroy whatever is put in front of them.
You serious? Someone on the internet disagrees with you and your response to to blow several hundred bucks on something you wouldn't have otherwise have purchased? That's kind of embarrassing to admit, IMO.You think we are close to having guns banned outright? You couldn't be further from the truth. But PLEASE, PLEASE continue with that agenda. And the left can't understand why so many of us are fed up.
That alone could cost you the presidential election.
Show me where the US citizenship is MORE in favor of having NO guns. You, and people like you are a small minority.
I had no plans to buy any more guns for a while but now, I will be buying another gun this weekend just for you. This is exactly what i will probably get. What do you think of it? Sweet, eh?!![]()
Agreed. Too bad "regulated" isn't. Or "militia" for that matter. You may not like it but the 2nd is far from clear.
Liberty is a bitch isn't it.
Please just stop talking now. It's getting stupid having to listen to you act like guns aren't built to destroy stuff.Guns are used as a deterrent thousands and thousands of times per year. I know it sounds worse and you think it proves your point when you say that but guns are used exponentially more times for preventing crimes without ever being fired than they are ever actually fired.
Only an agenda driven hack believes other wise. Oh, wait. it's you I'm talking to.
Ah, but there is dispute even then. What exactly does well regulated mean? How well is well enough? What are the parameters? What exactly does militia mean? Can you own guns without being part of one? None of these questions are answered in the 2nd. The 2nd is as cloudy as my morning pee.The "well-regulated militia" part was a justification for what came next.
How is my gun sitting on my counter asking for an accident? You make many assumptions. You show your idiocy and naivete. Where are the shells? Where is the firing pin?I know irresponsible firearms handling puts me in danger when I do not put you or other gun owners in danger. Gun sitting out on the counter is ASKING for an accident.
Did you know around 1 in 20 are complete paranoid, cowboy vigilantes that don't understand how proper law enforcement works? Coincidence?
Joni disagrees. She thinks her "beautiful little 9 mm" is more than enough to take down the military. Which is quite sad considering that she is a vet. You would think she would have more confidence in her fellow service members to not be taken out by a pocket gun.Because driving is a necessity in this country. Guns are not. We have grocery stores, we have a military to protect us. We also have a government that is strong enough to easily take you if they want, so there is no need for guns.
You are hilarious. So you refuse to admit that the number of crimes deterred by the presence of a gun are exponentially more than people shot by them? Please just stop talking now. It's getting stupid having to listen to you act like guns aren't built to destroy stuff.
Derp. "How does leaving my gun out lead to accidents? Derp. I'm not smart enough to realize that leaving a gun out unattended can lead to someone else, like say, a child, picking it up and accidently squeezing one off. Your refusal to admit to the bad parts of gun ownership is astounding. I recommend taking a gun safety course. How is my gun sitting on my counter asking for an accident? You make many assumptions. You state a lot of OPINION and try to pass it off as fact. "complete paranoid and cowboy vigilantes"? HA HA. You are crazy. My wife will get a kick out of being called completely paranoid and a cowboy vigilantes".
Once again, guns aren't designed to deter. They are specifically designed to fire small pieces of metal at high velocities at great accuracy to destroy whatever the small piece of metal comes into contact with. This isn't that hard to understand. Oh, wait. Look who I'm talking to. I'll probably have to explain this another dozen times. You are hilarious. So you refuse to admit that the number of crimes deterred by the presence of a gun are exponentially more than people shot by them?
why would Uncle Joe Biden tell us the best thing to do is to fire a shot gun out the back door to scare off a bad guy if it weren't meant as a deterrent?
"IMO". there you guys go again. It's YOUR opinion on a lot of things. Yet you think it's best for everyone. You serious? Someone on the internet disagrees with you and your response to to blow several hundred bucks on something you wouldn't have otherwise have purchased? That's kind of embarrassing to admit, IMO.

To each their own I guess. I just find it absurd that someone on the internet got under your skin enough to get you to blow several hundreds dollars on something you weren't planning on buying. I suppose you're the same type of guy who will blow a hundred bucks to get a $5 teddy bear at the fair simply because some carny said he didn't think you were man enough to get all three rings over the bottle."IMO". there you guys go again. It's YOUR opinion on a lot of things. Yet you think it's best for everyone.
I'm sorry if hundreds of dollars is that big of a deal to you. It's simply not for me. Work more hours or get a better job.
Hell, one of the only reason I own most of the guns i do is because of morons like you. So going out and buying another is actually a very good thing. Especially when we have guys like you and Trevor actually coming out and saying you want to ban guns. Keep talking. My gun collection will be extremely valuable some day. I hope to pass it to my kids.
Obama has been the greatest gun salesman in history. Everything you guys try to do works exactly the opposite of what you intend.
Please. I'm not the one opening up my wallet to the gun lobby everytime they say so, now am I?You are a gullible little fella.

I disagree with most of the limits the Supreme Court has invented over the years. If the country wants to outlaw "fighting words" then the Constitution should have been amended rather than the black robe gang making it up as they go along.
Please. I'm not the one opening up my wallet to the gun lobby everytime they say so, now am I?
No you would be the one opening your wallet to the anti-gun lobby every time they say so.Please. I'm not the one opening up my wallet to the gun lobby everytime they say so, now am I?
I'm sure you never donated a dime or gave any time to help Obama, Bernie or Hillary on their campaigns. Sure, that's different.Please. I'm not the one opening up my wallet to the gun lobby everytime they say so, now am I?
From this thread, I'm guessing you've gotten very little training. The first thing they teach you in gun safety courses is to make sure your gun is secured at all times because it is a lethal weapon. You've ignored this. You've said no harm can come from leaving your gun out on the counter and you refuse to admit that guns are designed to destroy whatever is put in front of them. Any good gun safety instructor would have flunked you.My house, is not your house or anyone elses. You don't know how much training I have had or how much I have been around guns or what I do to secure them. Just because you are afraid of them and don't have the first idea about guns (yet love to talk incessantly about their dangers, just like the media) doesn't mean I or anyone else is incompetent regarding guns.
You don't know how a gun works, do you?!! How does a child pick up my gun, at my house and "accidentally squeeze one off". All I said is "my gun is on my counter" and you clowns fill in the blanks.
Your kid could stay with me at my house for a week with that gun on the counter the entire time. He could even play with it every day all by themselves and at the end of the week when you come to pick him up, he will still be completely intact with no holes! Weird, huh?
