I would say it seems like quite a different situation from the info available. Repeatedly biting people is different than chasing and killing a few birds. Commander sounds like a much bigger situation that would require training, new environment, and perhaps euthanasia if it didn't stop threatening people. A wild young dog that did poorly on a hunt, killed some chickens, and snapped at her owner when she tried to restrain her--not good, but different in kind imo.
I don't have any strong partisan allegiances, but I think her chosen course of action was a poor one, and deciding to publish it in her campaign novel was a really unwise choice.
Based on past experiences with other dog owners, I am guessing she has a chip on her shoulder and was embarrassed by the dog. Her bite was probably deserved when she attempted to “correct” the poor beast.
It doesn't resonate with country people. It's in the book purely to create a brand. She's tough. She can take on China because she shot Cricket. She doesn't back down when the coastal elites mock her/you.
This book was written for one person, who unfortunately doesn't read.

I just think it’s important to keep hammering home the notion that many of us who loathe the Noems, Trumps and Gaetzes of the world do so not because of politics or partisanship but due to the fact they are human excrement that should be nowhere near the levers of power.
The dog killing doesn’t bother me so much. It’s the bragging about it. Then having a multi year affair with Corey Lewodeski. Finally add in the interceding on behave of her daughter to get a real estate license.
I believe you’re right but I also tend to agree with former Trump admin. official Alyssa Farah Griffen who said Trump will almost certainly be disturbed and find the account repulsive because his whole life has been lived within steps of his luxury housing and country clubs. Noem failed spectacularly.

Farm life is different. I don’t know all of the particulars around it. What I do know doesn’t impress me. But compared to the other things it’s less troubling.

Let’s put it this way to dog lovers. Shooting a dog that seems untrainable or perhaps violent is bad. Having a multi year affair. That is an open secret to the public and still claiming the high moral ground of Christian Virtue is a whole lot worse. In my book.
Very large men, huge country men actually, are coming up to me with tears in their eyes saying, "sir, why she shoot that puppy, why she go and do that?" No, she's a puppet - the latest in a string string of passably good looking, small population republican politicians that the big boys on the coast think they can use to convince the illiterate section of the voting bloc that they are "strong and amazing" women.
As the story evolves (post mortem for the puppy), the puppy gets more and more vicious, and attacks and kills more farm animals.
Originally she was bragging about shooting the puppy because he didn't hunt good.
