125-Scrappy kid who only wrestled to keep it close. Gilman does what Gilman does and wrestled to the end. B+
133-Clark thinks he can turn everybody...instead of going for the major, just sat there cranking on arms. Ever heard of a tilt young man? C
141-F. Was really rooting for Brody but showed no fight. One thing to be outclassed, but Carton would have been a better match. Seems to want to learn the tough lesson (riding high) over and over again.
149-Left a lot of points out there. Got the major. B
157-Saw a lot of fight out of Cooper tonight and am proud of him. A chance Gantt could be a finalist. Much different match than Midland...closer than the score. B
165-Was scared to shoot on the guy who is a very good counter wrestler. Did not put pressure on him...could have paid dividends in the third. Good heart and very close against a tough kid. C
174-Doesn't matter if he is wrestling a top five guy or a guy with a losing record, this is him. D
184-Most head-scratching guy on the team. Just looked like crap. F
197-Decent match against a game opponent. B
HWY-Stoll was on his way to losing big so I will go with a C. Stoll hung with him in some good scramble and didn't let him ride or turn so there is some improvement. Gwiz just too slick.

Coaches...F. Don't have the team ready and were just plain outcoached which is weird to say for wrestling. Even their "lesser" guys were wrestling smart to hang on to legs to prevent separation and try to keep the scoring down. They have less than a month to reattach their nutsacks.

Except Gilman.

Speechless!!

You're spot on with the grade for the coaching staff!! WTH?? FFF! Thank God we didn't wrestle the Hokies...we might have been shut out. Also, WTF was B&B thinking by sending Stoll out there after the initial injury? I mean, really? Why risk a chance (though after this, a very little chance) at coming in 3rd in the B10s and 5th at the NCAAs by allowing Stooll to continue a match which he had zero chance of winning? Just did not see one ounce of common sense in that decision. I'm curious as to what further injury or damage was done to Stoll's knee after allowing that match to continue?

I'm predicting 3rd at NCAA's behind PSU and the Buckeyes, and 5th (best) 6th (worst) at nationals. Aside from Gilman and Sorenson, I don't see anyone else having a shot at getting to the finals. Burak and Clark are great, but don't see them making it to the finals. And after watching Sammy hiccup against Nebraska and then again tonight, I think his AA opportunities will go down the tubes just like last year (bad loss in the 2nd round and won't be able to fight all the way back in the loser's bracket). As for Meyer, I don't know what to think. He could lose in the first round, but definitely in the second. He just can't (or won't) score points. Zero offense until he's getting his butt handed to him. Oh, and for all the Grothus lovers (like myself), put a fork in him; he's done. Like you I was encouraged, but not after what I witnessed tonight. He doesn't have enough time to get where he needs to be.

I will say, that I loved the show Cooper has been putting on the second half of the season, and I do like the effort by Paddock. Also, I hope Stoll will be ready by the B10s, but don't see it happening. He looked to be in great pain after he was injured the first time...and I'm sure his opponents will be going after that knee.

Until tonight, I was excited about the B10s...but not after this thing we witnessed tonight....

Hate it for our team and our fans...just ugly. And thank you, NWCA for not bringing VT to CH tonight...it would have been a blood bath...

Seriously can someone in the know provide insight on Brooks? When he got here from OP River Forest I thought 2x NC for sure. Just a killer. What IZ going on?

Actually think VTech will be a good tournament team. Streibler is done and Big Jordan is looking ripe for a quarterfinals upset. It's pretty wide open for 2-8. Have to give PSU the nod unless Tom brings in the exorcist.

Same thing ... different year. Team peaks in January and T-N-T proceed to run the team into the ground for the next two months. Will be lucky to finish 3rd in N.Y. JMHO

My friend, you're far more upbeat than I am. InterMat had us 5th in NY, and if that idiot move to send Stoll back in for a more thorough beat down after getting injured costs him a trip to NY, we could be looking at finishing behind Cornell and Mizzou. And if Sammy decides not to show up, we could fall behind NC State and Illinois. That being said, I think we can finish as high as 2nd if we wrestle to our potential with a healthy Stoll, but I think a more realistic prediction would be somewhere between 6th and 8th, especially if that bonehead move costs Stoll a chance to wrestle in the tourney. Hate it for that kid...and such a great year!

Brooks is hurt. He looks like the same version Brooks from a year ago when he got injured at the National Duels.
He'll have to rely on his greco tie ups even more so now going into the post season. Same story. Different year.
Also probably doesn't help his offense much having Meyer as a practice partner.
Just sayin

Was tempted to turn off the live stream at that point, but took one for the team and gutted it out. . . .

During Brooks match, when he was trying to put his shoe back on, it looked like he limped back to the center of the mat. Did anyone else notice that?

How about an F for the "fans" who started for the doors when Stoll was hurt. Who's acountable?

I agree - F for the fans who stayed home instead of coming to support their #2 team against a very good #4 team, only 6,056 in announced attendance but seemed like much less in person. F for leaving early and F for negativity now.

Also, on another note...I was encourage by the fight Collica gave Zain last night. I think Brandon's defense will cause lots of issues for Zain...
Just my guess. The difference between Collica and Sorenson wrestling Zain is Collica was happy as hell to dance around and get beat by a close score. Sorenson will show up believing in himself and will engage and wrestle Zain.

Right on Chief. I couldn't have done a better job, as always so I won't even try.

During Brooks match, when he was trying to put his shoe back on, it looked like he limped back to the center of the mat. Did anyone else notice that?
Yes, but the biggest indicator of all was Ironside mentioning how Sammy failed to react in two instances. He decided to not do a basic counter, especially on the go behind.

He is truly injured.

No. Collica wasn't just dancing around. He was being physical with his hands and it was a problem for Zain. I actually noticed Zain had a ridiculous nose bruise. I'm thinking that was a part of it.

It was so painful to go home from CHA last night. It felt weird. I wasn't disappointed in a loss so much, NCS wrestled tough - I was disappointed that two of our guys got hurt in the worst possible time, 10 days before the conference tournament. And even more so, they were hurt in a meaningless match that wasn't deciding anything.
I know that we can and we will do better in a post-season but it will be extremely difficult to keep up with top dogs with just eight guys, two of whom will be hampered by injuries.

Now this I find fair.

The fan support last night deserves the biggest F of all. The ones there were into it but a lot of fans need to look in the mirror before criticizing the team. I would like to hear the excuses for not being there.

This was just a case of NC State being overly motivated to wrestle "Iowa", especially after all the things that were said this past week or so.

Iowa went about it bau, but in their late-season snail-sh** mode kind of bau.....while NC State actually showed what a team looks like that is competing at its best at the end of the year.
