Sounds like a bunch of Hawks will be at the Grandview open this Saturday. It's being held at SE Polk high school.

Could be some good match-ups with Nebby, UNI, Mizz, NDSU, etc...

Hopefully we can see how our 141's match up with Andrew Long. Also, how big is Grandview's wrestling room? That roster has like 60 kids on it!

Is Long immediately eligible? I see they have the 6th ranked kid at 141, name of Walker Marshall, and a 9th ranked Elijah Sullivan at 149. I would assume either would not be a problem for Andrew Long as far as making the lineup, though he is listed at 141.

NAIA can take 12 kids to conferences so I don't know if anyone's really too worried about who's where

So Long could have waited 10 more years to enroll at GV and still been eligible to wrestle there?

He is the same class as McD right?

Anyone heard who from Iowa will be there? I'm thinking of making the trip over with my 2 year old....so assuming we have to leave after a 1/2 hour and her getting bored, I want to make sure I can watch some good matches.

I assume it is only backups heading to Grandview?

Not sure. Last night at Fight Night Morningstar said they were sending some guys when he was asked to go over the lineup. He said (to the effect): We have Gilman, Clark, Sorensen, Meyer, Brooks, Burak and Stoll, and then we are sending some other guys to an open.

I am sure we will get a little more clarity from today's media day.

Hopefully Stoll would go as well. Gilman, Clark, Sorensen, Meyer, Brooks and Burak probably don't need the extra matches, but everybody that didn't start last year could probably use some more mat time under the lights (exception for Meyer).

That makes perfect sense to me.

Pretty sure Long is out until 2nd semester. He has to get his grades up from his time at PSU.

4 full sized mats. Brand new facility last year. The building they are in was an old bowling alley.

No insider info but I would guess Grand View's coaches or administration may have given him some restrictions on his competition dates. Possibly due to grades or maybe its a 'prove it 1st semester' behavior type thing.

141 guys will be there for sure. I am not so sure if the 157 or 165 guys are going.

Just realized I can make it to this tomorrow. And it will prolly be the only one of the year, as we'll be moving to Oregon next week.

I've been stuck in our coffee roasterie six days a week for the last few years but the new guy can handle the shop on his own now.

In the Brands Transcript it sounded like St John and Cooper were going to be at the Grandview tournament. Go Hawks!!!

Actually I was there and I don't think he did say that. He was asked about 141 and said, "We're going to wrestle those guys this weekend" When asked about 157 and 165 he did not say he was wrestling those guys this weekend, he said the situation is similar where he is looking for someone to emerge.

From what I have seen St. John and Cooper are not going to GV open this weekend.

If all true freshmen wrestle unattached, then Cooper and Paddock have to be included in the 17 attached wrestlers, otherwise there aren't enough wrestlers on the Iowa roster to add up to 17. In fact you need Jake Turk, Conner Ryan and Lance Evans, all of whom are listed on wrestlestats but not the roster, to make 17. That doesn't include Gilman, Clark, Grothus, Sorensen, Meyer, Brooks, Burak and Stoll, who presumably aren't going.

On the flip side, there are 14 true freshmen on the roster (plus Murphy who's listed on wrestlestats but not the roster), so not all the redshirts are going.

Most want to see, in order: Kemerer, Turk, Holloway, St John, Wilcke, Paddock, Cooper, Carton, Ryan.

I don't suppose this will be streamed?

No stream that I know of, we (IAwrestle) hope to have some finals footage up sometime next week. Starting to sound like I didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I posted earlier about Long! :)
