True story. Bruce did it, heck, I think he wrote it! But Manfred Mann and the Earth Band did it right!Yep. And a ton of people don’t even know it was a cover of Bruce Springsteen song.
Bruce did write it. It was song #1 on his first album and I'm not arguing your last point.True story. Bruce did it, heck, I think he wrote it! But Manfred Mann and the Earth Band did it right!
Manfred Man redid at least 3 Springsteen songs from his first 2 albums. Blinded, Spirits in the Night and For You.Bruce did write it. It was song #1 on his first album and I'm not arguing your last point.
Saw BB in concert in Madison, WI when I was in school up there. Glad I did!
So much truth packed into that song. The most poignant, soulful & endures the test of time song ever written is ............................. drumroll..........
You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd, written and performed by Roger Miller - 1965.
1A- Happy BirthdayPost what you consider the greatest song ever written. It doesn't need to be your favorite song, or even necessarily a song you like, just what you consider to be lyrically the best song written of those you have heard. Only one song per person, please. Take your time.
We saw D give a great performance one night. I lose track, but there were multiple pianos, an organ, many guitarists and bassists, horns, and killer back up vocalists. It was truly a large band. Lyle was righteous that night as well. Here’s a new poll direction. If you had to pick a band to back you up would it be:
A - mussel shoals swampers
B - e street band
C - wrecking crew
D - the large band
I see him every year, but will miss this year while at glacier. Amazing bunch of musicians. Love how the pedal steel and cello are incorporated. The horns, btw, are basically the mussel shoals horns. And when Francine Reed is with them, wowza!!We saw D give a great performance one night. We saw them at an outdoor venue a little east of Knoxville in a pretty strong rain. There was a flat roof over the stage which was lowered down to prevent water issues. Lots of umbrellas and rain gear in the crowd. Lyle praised the crowd multiple times and said that, “If you are willing to sit out there, we are willing to give you your money’s worth.” Great show…I see him every year, but will miss this year while at glacier. That's a Leonard Cohen song? I never knew that.Since we’ve abandoned the one song rule already, I’m gonna throw in a couple under the radar solid works…
One from a legend: Paul Simon’s Hearts and Bones; and
One from a not-so-legend: Death Cab for Cutie’s cover of L. Cohen’s I Will Follow You into the Dark
I didn't realize that was L Cohen. Pretty cool.Since we’ve abandoned the one song rule already, I’m gonna throw in a couple under the radar solid works…
