He may possess an extra helping of passion, but he's not completely wrong. Much of the consternation about the DNC is clearly campaign strategy by the GOP that worked like a charm. So well that millions of people seem to have forgotten that the GOP is just as power-hungry and duplicitous as the DNC and it's voters are just as rude and prone to hyperbole.

I sympathize with his frustrations about the milquetoast appeals to calm down from moderates while a lunatic that absolutely attempted to literally overturn the results of a presidential election gets ready to go back into the White House.
Well, what the heck are we supposed to do for the next four years, live in a constant state of turmoil? Some people literally hang on every word Trump says (and clearly Chis assumes those who voted for him do the same). He also confuses MAGA apologist with simply pointing out there are those who voted for Trump who aren't die-hard MAGAs, but cast their ballot against Harris. He literally chooses his behavior.

It's hard to just ignore insane ramblings.

No it isn't.

We're not going to storm the Capitol and we're not going to start a civil war. I recommend getting VERY involved with your party at whatever level you feel is appropriate and worthy of your time and start working towards a viable strategy for 2028.

I'll push back a little on what you said, yeah, me, of all people.

This is NOT a knock on chis, as you can see I have a diagnoses myself.

I dont think chis has the emotional regulation to "choose" his behavior. I think you are looking at a cocktail of mental health and long term alcohol abuse that has severely impacted his ability to process emotions.

Well, maybe that's the case. If it is, he should choose a different sport. As you know, I'm very familiar with mental health issues and have told my dad time and time again to stay away from politics as it's triggering. He listened. No more social media and very little news consumption.

This place is filled to the brim with drama and people playing a role. Why does Chis demand this much attention?

That is a very good question. I've asked him over the years why he is so obsessed with starting political threads and he swears it's his civic duty.

...and yes, I know what you really meant. He's directly and passive aggressively called me out more than once for being a "MAGA Apologist" today, so I've responded in kind. I could ask the same of you, why do I demand this much attention?

Just my 2 cents from a fairly educated opinion.

I think "chis" is a good person, in his heart, but to your point, I don't know that he has the reasoning for politics at this point.

Let's face it, politics are ugly, they all lie, they all don't care about us, it's people that all play together at night pretending they hate each other to get money for their interest during thr day.

Your side is going to be wrong, a lot, and if you don't have the ability to pause from "I'm a true American that guy is a Nazi" to "burn thr place down" they probably are not good for your long term health.

Me? Absolutely nothing. I've made piece with the fact my party died in 2016. I will see who is on the ballot in 2028 and vote accordingly, just like I did this year.

I can tell you what I don't plan on doing, spending the next four years like this:

Nervous The Big Bang Theory GIF
I'm not panicking, I think Trump and the MAGA congress will be the best advocates for a change to normalcy in 2028. I'm content to watch those that voted for him enter the find out part of FAFO. Even though I'm going to sit back and watch what happens I can still comment on the insanity of his behavior.

In a way, I think covid gave voters an excuse to vote for Trump again. They decided that the things that went wrong during his Presidency were not his fault.

I loath that term. It's an executive functioning disorder. ADHD focuses on attention deficits and hyperactivity, but it doesn't fully encompass the complexity of the condition, which often involves significant challenges with executive functioning skills such as planning, organizing, prioritizing, time management, and emotional regulation—core issues better captured by the term "Executive Functioning Disorder."

I went through a DSM revision, I dont give a shit what you want to call it.

I'm attention deficit hyper active disorder, hyper active type.

When I was a kid, it sucked, as I've learned how to use it, it's almost a superpower.

This board is great for sharing opinions (aka: commenting), but it's undeniable that some people on both sides of the political spectrum take it to an almost obsessive level.

I think he's asking why do people bring Chis up even when they're not responding to him. No one on HBOT is responsible for the current leadership other than those that voted for them.

My son has ADHD, hyper active type with mood regulation disorder. When you tell another parent my kid has ADHD, their response is typically, "Ya, my kid's hyper too." Hence why I prefer the EFD label. You should watch some Russel Barkley videos on ADHD...EFD. Good stuff.

My daughter has done a couple things already that have sent up some red flags, little things like the other day we were in the living room and there was a dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, TV running and the pump from her fish tank had moved against the wall so.it was vibrating.

She asked what the sound was, her mother was BAFFLED, she was hearing all the individual noises around the home. I sat there in a mild "thats my girl" panic as I realized she couldn't NOT hear all the distractions either.

Exercise man, that is the key to working with a young person through ADHD imo. Get him physically EXHAUSTED, and THEN start working his brain through emotions.

Yup! That's why he's in club soccer and when these loooong holiday breaks happen, it's extra hard. Glad practice is starting back up next week.

How old is she?

You're right. We should all wake up every morning and chose between these two emotions:

Let's face it, Chis, you don't want to engage in a rational conversation about what your party can/should do differently. All you hear is, "It's the Dems fault." If you're not in complete, emotional breakdown, you're clearly not happy.
Sorry, some of us are just tired of hearing that people voted for a rapist felon because of something WE did.
Hillary was as close to a republican running as a democrat as you can get. Still...had to vote for Trump because liberals!
Biden was a centrist that was painted to be the next coming of Lenin.
Harris nearly lost the AG vote in CA because she was seen as too conservative. But again....flaming liberal.
The dems have done all they can to push forward moderates and you all still chose Trump. So when you blame us that MAGA focuses on some random culture war we can't help but roll our eyes.

Dang, everyone has some issues but I'm genuinely sorry to hear that it appears your daughter has inherited that particular aspect. Perhaps it can be something to bond over as opposed to guilt.

I will have zero guilt if she gets it. It truly is a superpower when you learn to embrace it and identify when your hyperfixating/over analyzing ect.

And she has something VERY different than what I had, she has me. I can get her through the early years, they just gave me an amphetamine and told me to sit down.

We are all embarrassed for people like you.

I don't know that it's embarrassment for me. I think there have been stages when it comes to Trump's base, starting with some sort of feeling of surprise. Like, oh that's what has been under that rock? I hadn't realized. Then a feeling of disappointment, in terms of reckoning with how many exist. Then perhaps sympathy knowing that many of them are vulnerable (impoverished, in pain, angry, etc.) And finally amusement, which I think could be likened to visiting a zoo. Mostly observe, wonder, occasionally tap the glass.

No offense of course, but for her sake, I hope she can also learn from you what things not to do/become as well. Good luck!

Says the guy averaging 21.92 posts per day to my 3.23.

My God, you really are dumb.
You have been here alllllllllll......****ing.....daaaayy and I'm here to tell you, your post count isn't any 3.23! lol Most of your posts are books with your gay little doo dads added, but ya, one of yours = one of mine. You have kids at home, I don't, but you do you. I had A LOT of work to do leading up to the election--mission accomplished--and I'll enjoy owning you libs, leftists and haters of the Red, White and Blue up until the inauguration, but after that I'll drop back to say 3.21 a day as we get ready for spring planting.
